Topic: 2 week Update
Hello everyone!
First I am so sorry I have been so absent! I started back to work last week and my schedule has been horrendous!!!!! I had my two week follow up yesterday and it went really well! I had a sonogram and no blood clots...praise Jesus! AND by the doctors scales I have lost 21 lbs...but by mine I have lost 23. I have not lost any weight since Thursday!!!! GRRRRR....but I started on soft foods on Friday. I am trying to get my protein and water in but it is tough especially when I drink too much water I puke...even sipping it makes me nauseous. I have found that the hardest part of this whole thing is not drinking while you eat. I haven't formally started walking (there is no place to walk by where i live) but I walk a lot for work and I chase around a five year old who has t-ball three times a week. As soon as I get the clear to do heavy exercise I'm off to the gym..i love the elypticals!! My energy level has increased over the past few days and I am not longer in severe pain. I can sleep on the right side (wooohooo!!) and I am still a little sore on the left which i'm sure is normal. My incisions are healing up great as well!!
It is amazing the difference one week will make!!!!! Well I must go get ready for work!
On a side note: I just got accepted into the alternative teaching program in Texas!!!!! I have to take my certification tests in May and a course this summer and hopefully will find a job soon and be done with sales FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a blessed day!!!
With a smile,
Rita

Topic: RE: am i taking in to many calories
Hi Tema,
After surgery, I followed a liquids-only diet for one week and was then moved to a soft protein-rich diet. This diet included foods such as cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs, moist chicken/turkey, beans, seafood, etc. I was told to take a protein supplement as well - one that met the following criteria:
> 20 grams of protein
< 10 grams of carbohydrates
< 3 grams of fat
I was told that I should take the protein supplement until I am able to reach 60-80 grams of protein per day with my food intake, alone. I drink zero carb Isopure and it is 160 calories per serving (40g protein, 0 carbs, 0 fat). I drink one a day in addition to 3 meals, all whi*****lude a form of protein. These are instructions from the nutritionist in my doctor's office.
My suggestion is to talk to a nutritionist. It may not be necessary to get 120 grams of protein per day. Especially if the caloric values are so high. I probably average anywhere from 500 to 800 calories a day, depending on my menu. 600 calories seems like a big chunk!
Anyway, sorry to be so long-winded. Good luck to you!
Nicole

Tema,
I am not sure, I am still not up to that amount just yet. Try calling your nutritionist or you dr. I might need to get to that amount because I still stay hungry a lot.

Hey Denise,
I agree with Kat. I only felt that way when I first came home. the first 2 days but after that I just could not sit still. Have you started taking your Vitamins? that might help other then that I would call the Dr.

Me too and I also have lost about 30 pounds. I tracked my calories and I am only getting in 500 a day so I think that is a big part of it. I am thinking of calling my doctor in the am.
I also have been really having trouble getting my water in the last few days. Is that a problem for you too?

Dave and Jodell,
That is wonderful news. I am happy for the both of you and I am glad that you have each other for support.

This is something you need to call your doctor about. You could be having anemia or you could have any number of things going on. There are a lot of causes for this, but all require your physician's opinions and possible intervention.
It could be as simple as upping your protein or changing your intake, but that too should be something you go over with your team
