Topic: RE: burping and hiccups?
I wish I could answer your question, but I honestly don't know. It seems to me that since my surgery on March 21st, I am getting the hiccups and burp a lot more. It sounds like you are doing very well! I hope you have much success!
I also hope somone has a good answer to your question. You've got me curious now!
Good Luck,
Robin

Sounds like a great plan. I am so glad it is working for you! I am wondering if I am eating enough. I average about 400-500 cal, 60-70g of protein, and about 75oz. water each day. I am eating three 2oz. meals and a 2 oz. snack every day like I am supposed too. Nut says it should be about 600 cal, but I'd have to eat a whole lot more to get that many cal. in each day. What do you think?
Keep me posted,
Robin
Topic: burping and hiccups?
Hey everyone.
I have survived surgery and have been home since saturday. Everyday I feel better and I am no longer on the heavy meds. Well, I take a 1/2 dose about once a day if I need board.
I have been taking in 1 or 2 shakes with added protein powder, almost a whole Isopure, and as much water as I can take, some chicken broth or jello.
The PROBLEM is I don't have much trouble with it going down. .. but a few seconds later I have small burps and now for the first time I have the hiccups! Am I consuming it too fast? I can't imagine getting in everything I need having to wait 15 minutes between sips. Should I be taking Prilosec every morning or tums or Gas X?
any ideas?

Hey, that's awesome. I am really happy for you!!

I guess that extra walk did the trick for you. I added and extra mile yesterday. Then today I walked on my treadmill for an hour at 4mph (4 miles). I hope it helps me too, but I won't know 'til next week because I put my scale away!
Keep up the good woork,
Robin

I think that 24 lbs. is pretty good. Congrats.
Maybe you're hungry because you're not getting in enough protein. You can supplement with the protein shake. Those make me feel very satisfied.
It would be a really good idea to attend a support group also. I find them so helpful.
PS. DRINK THA****ER. (LOL)

Thank you to everyone *****sponded to my post. I am sorry I did not respond back. I suffered for 4 days with an "on call" doctor who told me nothing was wrong. I finally talked to my surgeon on 3/19 and he admitted me to the hospital and found I had a bowel blockage. I had a second surgery, but aspirated during surgery. As such, it led to pnemonia (sp?), liver trouble, etc. etc. It landed me in the ICU for 5 days, for a total of 8 days in the hospital (the second time around.) Recovery is slow but I am better now. My surgeon is awesome and everytime something went wrong, he knew and stepped in and helped fix it. Thanks for everyone's posts and concerns!!!!! And remember, you know when you are sick, even if an on call and ER doctor doesn't!!!!

A little bit of an update...I've lost 3 pounds the last two days. So far so good.
Topic: RE: Trouble tolerating Crystal Light?
I'm with your on that,Kat. Crystal light is just too sweet to me - made me feel like I was going to get sick. Sugar free popsicles have the same effect. I am loving ice cold water right now. It tastes soooo good. Yesterday, I did find that I like the WalMart peach tea packets that you can dump in a 16 oz. bottle of water. I am going to try their little packets of sugar free apple cranberry drink for water bottle tonight. I think I do better with keeping track of my water with the bottles too. Since I like to keep them for when I am going somewhere, I bought a little screw top water bottle that has the oz. marked on the side so that I can use that in the house rather than the bottled water. I got it at linens n things, but they have them everywhere. Maybe that would work for you too!
Good Luck,
Robin
