Topic: RE: What do you do??
Yes I am only allowed swimming or walking, and even that not heavily exertional. I was mostly looking to see who might be doing walking groups near me or maybe some other options I hadn't thought of.
I hate walking... too boring... the swim thing might work in a class where I have some socializing too, but if I had to do it in my own pool, meh, again, boring. While exercise is a necessity, I know myself and if it's not at least somewhat stimulating mentally... I'll eventually not comply, no matter how earnest my desire when starting out.

We are only allowed to walk during the first 6 weeks post-op. I would ask your doctor what would be ok to do at just a few weeks post-op. I hear that swimming or walking in the water is the first and best thing to do after surgery. That is what I plan on doing although I also have a stationary bike and weight bench plus bands for variety.

I know that everyone in my program who has the lap band does liquids for the first 6 weeks post-op. I would go back to high protein liquids and drink lots of water.

Most people in this forum just had surgery, so you might want to post this on the March 06 or Lap Band boards. Hope it works out and feels better soon.

I would say go back to the basics.... protein, protein, protein, water, water, water and keep up the exercise!

I am "banned" from the gym until May 1st (my account was put on medical leave). I had surgery on the 12th, and my surgeon's office told me not to do anything too strenous for 6 weeks.
I know that I don't walk nearly enough... I would rather be on the treadmill at the gym!

OMG Virginia your story is soooo inspiring, being newly banded and on this journey myself reading about your success helps me know that I can get there too. Thanks you! GOD BLESS!

Topic: Survived Sleep Test
I cleared the last hurdle this morning. I found out that I have sleep apnea and will be receiving one of those machines soon. I have to admit after they had me start wearing the nose piece I slept like a baby after that.
I also got some new that was a little disturbing. At my mammogram this past week the radiologist said that they found some abnormal cells not in my breast but very close to my chest wall. So now I have an appointment with a surgeon on April 13th for a deep biopsy of those cells.
Pray for me my friends.

I had lap-band on March 2 2007. I lost weight at first. I get my first fill on April 5th. I went on a cruise last week and gained 6 pounds. I have been crying since. I regret the cruise so very much even though I had a blast. I can not have a gain its degrading. I let my self down. Any suggestions on how I can get back on track? I exercised daily on the ship. They had a walking track on the top and I used it 3 times daily.
Topic: RE: Home AGAIN--WARNING
I'm breathing! I'm breathing! I got home late on Thursday after surgery on Tueday. I haven't been using my spirometer much because...it hurts in one specific place. My left upper rib under my armpit. But I've coughed and walked a lot. I'm breathing though. Noticing I'm not able to inhale as much as I did in the hospital though. I'll keep an eye on my temp and pulse. Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm sorry you had to go through it all but now thanks to you, some of us won't have to. Take good care,
