Hello Everyone! This past friday I was at the Legacy Good Samaritan Obesity Center four hours, first they took about 7 vials of blood out of me, then I had the 600 question psych test, and the nutrition test. It made for one long day. My husband and I left town at 5:15am just to beat the Portland traffic on I-5. Well tomorrow I get to meet with a Dr. Veith to see if I pasted the psych test or not, lol, I know I am crazy I drive a school bus! And then I see the nutritionist, and someone else to review my medical history with me. I am hopeful that I will hear soon when I get to have the surgery and also see just how much I have to lose before surgery. I am 6 ft tall and I weigh in at 450 lbs. So it will be interesting to see. Keep me in your prayers! Sheryl E.

yeah Rita! I'm thrilled for you! You are losing already, so now you have room to save me a spot on the loser's bench. I"m there on Thursday. Kinda scared but hearing about you and the other's helps alot. I'm really excited for you! Congrats and please take care of yourself.

Wow! Thanks for all of the replies. THis board is awesome. I went to the store and bought Crystal Lite and the Edy's no-sugar-added popsicles. I couldn't beleive all of the new flavors of Crystal Lite. It has been a while since I bought some. It seems like I have a lot of choices, and that helps. Dave's suggestion to just go to bed earlier was such a simple one, but it works! I've been pretty tuckered out since the surgery, so I've needed the extra sleep. And he's right - when you are asleep you can't eat. Why didn't I think of that earlier? Thanks again, everyone. Sarah

Hi, Joanne. I had the lap band surgery the day before you (the 19th) and am curious how you are doing. Today is the first day that I have really felt back to normal. I was surprised how sore I was. I have three sons (ages 10, 8 and 3) so I can empathize with you. I've been making really easy meals for them, and then like you, sitting down and sipping liquids. Luckily I've been feeling a little quesy so I haven't been too tempted to eat real food. I'm a little jealous seeing all of the weight coming off so fast from the RNY folks. I's just so glad I had my surgery last week. It was warm here today, and I'm motivated to wear shorts this summer! maybe even a swimsuit! Best of luck. Sarah

Topic: RE: Surgery on Monday
Elisa- I felt like you too a day or 2 before the surgery. I got scared especially when my husband finally admitted to me that he was worried too. We talked about "why" I was having the surgery and I reminded him and myself that I needed this operation so I could save my life. I was 105 lbs overweight- on highblood pressure meds, diabetic, and had high cholesterol, foot problems, and basically felt like crap most of the time. We went to church the day before-we talked about what my wishes were if something happened and I told all of my family and especially my children how much I loved them. I know this sounds kind of dramatic and it was because this is a dangerous operation but despite all of that I knew that this was my answer that I had prayed about. I did not want to have a heart attack in my early 50's like my dad did and die in his early 60's. I want more out of life! So I went to the hospital- had the operation and have done very well! Please remember "why" you are at the surgery door and if it seems like the solution for you-go for it! There are plenty of folks on this site who have felt the way you are now and we are on the other side and doing well. God Bless you and I wish you the best of luck! PS- I had Tricare Prime. Valarie
