Topic: Surgery on Monday
Well I guess procrastination may as well be my middle name! After a year of trying to get my insurance (Tricare) to approve my surgery I was finally scheduled for gastric bypass on Monday march 26. After all this waiting and fighting w/the insurace I didnt think that I'd be this nervous about having this done, but sitting here with less than 2 days to go its really starting to hit me. Prayers for strength and courage would be appreciated :) As well as any advice or last minute helpful suggestions would be great, I dont know if theres anything special I should bring with me to the hospital or just the regular overnite kind of things? Well thanks in advance for any responses.
God Bless
Elisa

I just had my band surgery last Tuesday, and as a single mom, I am the one still doing the cooking for my son. Honestly, it hasn't really been an issue. I make him his dinner and then sit down and sip my liquids. I look at it this way... when I am back on solid foods, I will be able to eat dinner with him, so this is only a temporary situation.

Glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery!!!
Honestly, I had expected to be just focusing on getting better this week, and didn't expect to see such dramatic results so quickly. My only explaination for the very rapid weight loss is that I may have higher than average muscle mass. Lost 3 pounds more today when I woke up. That brings me up to a grand total of 40 pounds lost, and officially puts me under the 300 pound mark!! 25 of those pounds are post-surgery, and 15 was on the pre-surgery diet.
I know this weight loss has to slow down sometime soon, or I'd be at goal in a couple months.
Thanks for your post--
Dave

Great job on the weight loss! I know that you were not sure it was worth doing, but have you changed your mind?
I am 4 days post-op and the scale went below my pre-op weight for the first time this morning. I haven't been in the 270s in a long time, and I am hoping not to be there for long. I can't wait to see the results for me. I get to start the fuller liquids on Monday and can't wait. Food is just around the corner!
Best of luck to Jodell on Tuesday! Inspire each other!

Hey...Necole...our day is coming!! I can't believe it's 3 days from now. I had a filter put in my groin on thursday and that was my first time in an OR. (don't have kids) and there was some nudity I wasn't prepared for but otherwise it went fine. made me less nervous since I know where I'll be on Tuesday. I'm off to buy the fleet enema and liquid diet stuff for Monday. Are you doing that too? Keep in touch. This is going to be the best thing we've ever done for ourselves.

I am so excited and nervous at the same time! I can't wait to be on the losing side. I cooked a huge meal for my family 2 nights ago, and that was really rough. I made bbq ribs---(my fave), and spanish rice, and I included a very special salad that I could eat too! I find that if I include something in there for me, it's not all that bad. It is hard to not eat when you cook alot. I promised myself I will not stop cooking for my family just because I cannot over eat anymore. Well the real test begins when I get home....right? Has anyone else out here had the same dilemma? Cooking for the family, but not eating the food?

David's suggestions to divert your attention are great. If, however, you find that that doesn't work for you, perhaps having a SF popscicle at night will help.
I have found that the No Sugar Added Edy's Fruit Pops are really tasty, and I consider them a daily treat.
Hope this helps!
