Topic: RE: bc/bs exclusions
Many state employee policies do have a specific exclusion for WLS. Meaning that they will not pay for weight loss surgeries of any type, period.
I dunno if BCBS of Texas is a state employee policy but I think that is what's being asked.

I have BCBS and I was just approved thursday. I am not familiar with what exclusions are can you explain?
Topic: bc/bs exclusions
hi, can anyone tell me if they have actually been approved with bc/bs texas with a written exclusion?

OH Sherry,
I"m sure sorry to hear about your 'bugs'. My Emma had it a few weeks ago and it lasted an entire week. She missed an entire week of school. Kinda wi**** would have been during her spring break, but oh well. I missed two days of work that I needed to use for next week after surgery. My mom was great enough to keep her the rest of the week. And next week she gets to take care of me!!
Anyway, I've been thinking about you often. Just keep your distance if you can and get lots of rest.

Sarah,
I am so glad you posted this because I actually thought it was just me having these issues. My head tells me I am hungry and to eat something bad, but my stomach says no because i will make you vomit if you eat it. It only happens at night to me which was when I used to eat like a pig before the surgery. I have a hard time making myself eat during the day, but lookout after 5 pm. I hope it gets better with time and I am sure it will. For me I just go to bed or drink water or crystal light and it seems to help me forget the cravings. Try keeping yourself full of liquids and it should help some. good luck

Topic: RE: surgery next tuesday
Hi Cindi-
Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I just had mine last Tuesday, the 20th. My post-op diet is going in 5 stages. This week I'm on all clear liquids. As of the 27th is when I'll go to full liquids (including protein shakes). It has been explained to me by both my surgeon and the nutritionist that, as I progress through the remaining stages and return to "normal" eating, I may have to continue with protein shakes, most likely 1 per day. Other people I have spoken to who were banded a long time ago say that they still have one shake a day to make sure they are getting in their 60-80 grams per day. I don't think it will be too much of a hardship because it can be sipped on between breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner. I hope all goes well with your surgery and that you feel as good afterward as I do!

Sherry:
Lysol all day and all night. Those bugs can be a mess.

Thanks everyone! I am doing good today but still sore and loopey from the meds. I don't want to give those up just yet though.
It has been a little stressful here because my family picked up a stomache bug somewhere while i was in the hospital, so hubby isn't able to do as much as I had hoped to let me rest. I am praying that I don't get it either so being careful to wash hands and keep to myself. It seems to be a fast moving virus so hopefully they will all be better tomorrow.
The kids are on spring break all this next week, so trying to figure out how to handle that one. Keeping the kids busy and happy while recovering - that's a trick!

Thanks Sondra,
Everything went fine. I can't wait for the tightness and soreness goes away and I can move around freely.
Take care,
Wanda
