Well Sherry, Tomorrow is your great day. Try your best to get some rest tonight. I can imagine it being hard to sleep due to excitement. You have come so far and you are just beginning the great part. I have said a prayer for you and I pray you have a remarkable recovery. Keep us posted as soon as you can. God Bless. Necole

My surgery is tomorrow and I started my liquid diet/fasting on Saturday. So far I am down 8 pounds since Thursday. I am glad it's only 3 days for my liquid diet. I don't see the reasoning for two weeks but some surgeons do that. As for the bathroom, yes that is normal. I had diarrhea and soft stools yesterday but nothing today except lots of peeing. I think once the intestines and bowl clear out then it is probably just pee from there. Good luck with you liquid diet! It is tough but hang in there! Sherry

Hi ladies! Yes, 24 hours from now all of us will be done with surgery and sitting on the other side!!!. It has been a rough few days but the hunger is getting easier with time. I am praying that everyone does well in surgery tomorrow and that we all post back here by the end of the week. Just a short time from now and we'll all be big losers! I started packing my bag for the hospital and getting everything ready. I shower also tonight but with Hibicleans soap they gave me at the clinic. I do the Hibicleans again in the morning for another shower. My surgery isn't until 12:30pm tomorrow, so I plan to stay up late this evening so that I can fill up my tummy just before the midnight deadline for fluids. I woke up at 6am this morning with a rumbling tummy os I hope to avoid that again. I do have to take one more dose of antibiotics tonight and then antidepressant in the morning with a sip of water. We leave home at 8am for the hospital since they want me there early in case he gets through the srugeries before mine more quickly. Let's all stay connected and take care everyone! Sherry

Thank you for the thoughts. Yes, they will put you on a 1-3 day liquid diet before surgery to clean out your pipes and get you rolling towards weight loss. The liquid diet will help burn off fat around your organs and make it easier to perform the surgery, so you have to be good with the diet in order to make the surgery easier for the surgeon. It's a rewards to me. The diet is very hard, so you probably can't stick to it until you have to. I would probably never do it again unless I had to. I guess that unless you are drinking all of the time, you will be hungry at least some. Today I took a nap in the afternoon so that I wouldn't have to deal with the hunger and feeling icky, and that seemed to help. I also know that it will be hard to sleep in the hospital, so I want to rest some before going in. Thank you and good luck with your appointment and surgery next week. Hope all goes well! Sherry

Well. I am the trouble maker as usual and I am gonna disagree with everybody. My surgery was the day before yours. I can get down maybe 1/2 and egg, or an ounce of cheese, or 1/8 cup of refired beans, or maybe one slice of thin thin thin meat at a "meal". None of these choices have more than 10 grams of protein in them. A one-cup protein shake has 27 grams of protein in it. The cold liquid ALWAYS sits well in my pouch, and I can get them down no matter how I am feeling. If I ate something really dense, or my pouch is feeling cranky, the amount of protein in the food that will go in is almost not measurable. Skipping a "meal" of the 4 tablespoons of food I can manage to get down seems to me that it makes VERY little difference in my total protein count for the day. My docs instructions are to eat "AT MOST 3 meals a day" (emphasis mine) which seems to imply permission to skip meals. If I am drinking protein instead, it raises my odds to get enough protein in for the day. I am already a know-it-all, though. So accept this as my humble opinion only.

I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Please stay on top of the doctors. I have to tell you that Kat is right. I use the Prevacid solutabs now and I am pre-op and it works wonders. Make sure you go to the ER if you have any systoms. Remember that fever is your bodies way of dealing with infection so the ER may not be a bad idea in the event that you need some iv antibiotics as well as iv fluids if you are not getting enough. I hope things get better for you.

Not true. I thought the same thing call your dictir and let them know you are self pay and get a price. My Dr. in Pa is about 13 thousand for RNY. That 1/2 off. Plus remember everytime you need a fill on your band or adjustment you will have to fly back. If you get a chance just call and talk to the person in charge of billing. I think you will be surprized. Good Luck, Laureen
