Topic: RE: HELP, I am in Post op and struggling
HI jsut left you response about what they told me to do with my program, but then I see that you are a bander. So, it is a little different after the first week for lap band, so make sure you get in touch with your program to get the right post-op instructions for the lap band, but the week 1 liquids should be the same.

Wow, that is unfortunate that they did not give you good post-op instructions. Here is what I have from my program:
Week 1 - Sugar Free Clear Liquids
Sip 1-2 ounces of fluids every 15 minutes
Accepted Fluids: Water, Sugar Free Jello, Sugar Free Popcicles, Sugar free flavored water (Propel, Fruit2O, etc), Decaf tea or coffee with no added sugar or cream, Low Sodium Broth, Crystal Light, Sugar free Tang, Sugar Free Kool Aid, Diet Decaf Snapple
In addition we are instructed to take 2 chewable multivitamins per day and 1 500mcg B12 vitamin
Minimal amounts of calories and protein
You should get in touch with the dietician or nutritionist for your program and get detailed instructions for future weeks. My progra m does full liquids for week 2, soft and pureed foods for weeks 3-6 and then solid after week 6. You need to focus on getting protein first with every meal once you start doing full liquids and onward, but get instructions for that form your program.
Good luck!

Hi Sue,
I can understand your situation as I work for a BCBS company. I want you to know that you should not allow one CS rep who needs to be RETRAINED to spoil your day. As a CS manager I am fuming that he would even dare be cold on the phone with you. After all, if it were not for the member's we would have no jobs.
On the other hand, I believe that you should call back and ask for a CS manager and ask them to not only go over the benefit for WLS and the Lap Band, but to give it to you in writing.
I also want you to know that a lot of the time (if not most) it is your employer who is making WLS a benefit exclusion.
Keep your head up and try to call again.
Topic: RE: I Can't Wait for March 27th
I am just getting more and more excited as I realize that I really am not alone. For the longest time I allowed myself to believe that NO ONE would ever understand the issues involved with being overweight and what it finally takes to bring you to the decision to have WLS. I wish I had spent more time on this site before because it has been really helpful meeting people and praying right along with you.
Becky I will just add you to my list of friends that need a special prayer on the 29th. I'll keep you posted and please do the same.

Hi! I am right in there with you all . I am on the 29th and am so anxious yet petrified. And I have been thru this sort of thing before 20 years ago with a VBG. I guess mine was quick too. I was approved and called by the doctor on March 1st and they said they wanted to do it on the 29th. WoW! My mind is spinning as to how to be prepared.
I'll be watching for updates on everyone and praying for you all!

Well I am happy for you and your recovery. I am laughing to myself about the fudge sicle because I always laugh at the back of the box that says, serving size =1. This is truly something I will have to work on.

Topic: Back Home from the Hospital (RNY on Mar 13)
Well, I got released this morning from the hospital. I slept a lot the day of my surgery except at night. The nurses and technicians came into my room approximately every hour to either give me a blood thinner shot in my belly, shot in my PICC Line (central IV line in my upper left arm), change the IV solution bags, take my temp, take my pulse, or take my blood pressure. Goodness, the sure do work 'round the clock!
The next two days, I slept and walked and slept.
I began watching TV on the 15th. I was suppose to be released yesterday evening, but my phosphorus level was too low. I had to have 2 more IV bags (6 hours each) before my labs came back okay. So, I was released this morning at 10:30.
I am sooooo glad to be out of there!!!!
I didn't realize that one No Sugar-Added Fudge Sicle was too much to eat all at one time! But, now I know!!
So, now I need to concentrate on getting my liquids in!

a stress test is considered diagnostic by most insurance companies and therefore covered... some require prior authorization for it as well.
