Kat, hope you are doing well, I feel a little bit better. Still not able to get all the water or protein in yet. I had the lap RNY by Dr. Hong in Portland Oregon on 3/6/07. I just want to chew something. didn't think I would feel this way but I do. Only one week to go until pureed and soft foods yeah!!!! Let me know how you are doing. Lisa

Topic: Frustrated
Right now I am very frustrated. I contacted Voc Rehab for assistance. I was told because I am working I do not qualify for any assistance from this office. She further states that there is a new policy in regards to WLS. I asked her if she would mail me a copy of the policy and she advised that it is on the website. I have been unable to locate the policy, and am very upset with the cavalier attitudes regarding obesity. The County that I live in has a written exclusionary clause against WLS. However, it is listed under "Physical Appearance"! I am not getting a boob job, I am trying to save my life! IS THERE SOMEONE OUT HERE THAT CAN ASSIST ME WITH MY DILEMMA?!!??? I am at my wits end and am trying to remain positive, but it is waning......

Stacy, Hang in there and dont get discouraged. Yes, I have heard of that peer to peer telephone calls and alot of time they work. Do you have any documentation on your weight loss attempts or anything? I would also check on the insurance help message board you may get more advice. Hang in there and Good luck. Bridget

Topic: insurance pain...
ok, this is a good one. i'm angry and don't know what else to do. i called the insurance company today and was told i was again denied even though they received the paperwork they wanted from the first denial. this time it is supposidly because the gastric bypass is not a covered benefit and there was not eighteen months of documentation for dieting and least evasive attempts at losing weight. now, the best part is my husband was approved from my same insurance for gastric and is scheduled for testing soon!! the rep did say something about giving a peer to peer telephone number for my doc to call their reviewer/doc to talk over the case. has anyone ever heard of that!? what was the most number of appeals anyone has heard of that someone had to through prior to approval?!! Teri, Awesome on the date!!! My wife, Jodell's date is also the 27th, and my date is tomorrow morning. Although looking forward, it seems like a long time, but looking back the last two weeks has gone in a blink of an eye. We had so many things we wanted done BEFORE our surgeries, that we had alot to keep us buzy right up until my date. Try to plan some stuff to stay buzy, and the time will fly by!!! --Dave

Topic: RE: PRE OP DIET/GOALS
Rita, Tonight is my last day of the pre-op diet, and I have to admit I'm glad it's almost over (my surgery is tomorrow morning). I spoke with someone else who had surgery, and they told me the pre-op diet was worse than the post-op diet. My pre-op diet ordered by my doctor is protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, and then one 500 calorie meal. I have to admit that I was glad for the 500 calorie meal. On a positive note, I have lost some "momentum" weight during this pre-surgery diet. --Dave
