Hi Nate! Best of luck and make sure to get as much information about everything as you can now. And you have to follow your physician's and nutritionist/dietician's instructions. It's very important. I will be having my surgery the day before yours, but I haven't decided whether to do lap band or the gastric bypass. i will figure it out when I meet with the surgeon on the 15th. Good luck! Sherry

Hi Sherry, we have the same surgery date! I can't wait! I saw my surgeon Thursday for the final visit before surgery. Hopefully nothing will go wrong before then. I will be the first up that day...I love early surgeries...I hate not being able to drink anything. Ice chips is better than nothing. I really don't look forward to the mag citrate though. Hope u feel better and i think your sinus infection should be cleared up by then. Good Luck! Deb

Hi, I have been turn down 3 times by my insurance. So I called the Doctors and got a price . I have also done all the appointments the insurance wants you to do. They gave me a price off: $9500.00 for Hospital $2310.00 for Doctor $950.00 for Anist. I think that was good price. Here is my Doctor. Topic: RE: Cost Of Surgery
I have heard that the average Gastric Bypass costs $25,000-$35,000. BUT, I think most doctor's and hospitals will work with cash payments differently. I have heard that will reduce costs all over the place to make it easier to pay for but I am not sure what they reduces down to. It's like they inflate costs so the insurance companies will pay but if it's for a person they make you pay a more realistic amount. It costs alot of money for the average person to pay in ca****hink that's why it is so important for more insurance companies to start covering this life saving procedure that will actually save them money from the comorbidities and costs associated with being morbidly obese. There is alot of information on this website about getting help with appealing your insurance company to get the surgery approved (sample letters etc). Good luck with everything! ~Christal/dionysus_star
