Topic: Six Month Anniversary and I'm OK...
Well, this is my six-month anniversary...I do not regret having the surgery, but at times I am disappointed that I have not lost more weight. But for me I am still a winner.
Normally after losing 20 pounds I would put it right back on and more. With the band I am still losing. I'm losing slowly due to me not always following the band rules but I take responsibilities for that. Everyday I am learning so much about my band; it's likes and dislikes. I do not eat popcorn, bread, rolls, etc. So I'm still learning.
As of today it's been 26 weeks since my surgery, and I have lost approximately 1 pound per week. At this rate I hoping for a 60 pound lost at my 1-year anniversary. Which is still good for me. The band has also helped me with my passion for the Gym. I workout 4 to 6 times a week. Even if I can not give an hour, I have to give 30 minutes. At times I am the last person in the Gym, closing it down with the front desk staff. I put my baby to bed, kiss hubby bye and I take time for me. I really enjoy working out and lifting weights. I can see my body shape changing and toning.
This morning weigh in without clothes 248.1 (278-249=29 pound lost)
NSV:
If I drop something, I can pick it up...
I can cross my legs in some chairs.
My bras fit better.
I lost some rolls on my back and but area.
My but is tighter (Per hubby).
I can fit into clothes I haven't worn in years.
I can fit into some 18's. I have not worn a size 18 in over 10 years!
I can do a push up and 200 sit ups!
My face is getting smaller
I have a Neck!
I have energy to play with my four-year-old.
I can walk up and down three flights of steps without stopping.
Giving away my old size 24's , 22's and some 20's clothes.
Receiving my sister's size 18's..
I will continue on my band journey. It is a lifetime journey for me and I thank GOD for allowing me to have this surgery and to achieve the level of success that is right for me.
I must also thank this board for being a great tool of support for me and allowing me to met some wonderful helpful people that are always willing to answer your questions and help you in anyway necessary. You people are truly a blessing. And I would like to thank my wonderful baby sister D.P. (Lap band surgery a day after me) who donates all of her clothes to me. I am looking forward to her size 16's. LOL!!!
GOD Bless.

Topic: The first 6 months
Hey my March 07 family. I haven't been around in awhile. I would like to know how did everybody do in there first 6 months. I will start off.
I had my surgery 03/02/07 my surgery weight was 264. My 6 months was smooth sailing for me. I enjoyed every last minute of it. Not excersing as much as I would like but is still stay active. I am now doing 100 grams of protein a day. Still struggling to get my vitamins in everyday, that is what I am struggling in.
I now weigh 185 and I am in a loose 14 on my way to a 12 very, very, soon. The weather is getting cooler her in VA and I need winter clothes or fall clothes and I have none. Time to go shopping.
Ok, who is next. please tell us how was your first 6 months was.

Ok Marchers!
My stats are not quite as good, but I'm proud of them just the same, I guess its because I still have a way to go.
I started out at 4X or 30/32 tops, because that was the largest I could find.
sometimes they were tight. They had to be stretchy.
I am now wearing 2X or 22/24 not bad!
I was wearing @ 4X or size 30 pants.
I am now wearing a 22 or 24 or 2x. The 24's are a little baggy on me.
I think my feet have gotten smaller but its hard to tell because all I used to wear was Birkenstocks. I can still wear them but they are loose.
I recently bought some cute shoes on clearance. I haven't worn cute little thongs or sandles in years.
By the way I have lost 150 lbs. Too!
I still have @ 100 to go though. I don't remember how to do my ticker, sorry
Thanks for letting me share!
Topic: RE: Question about Spouses
I think my husband is happy about the weight loss and what it has done for my body, mind and soul. I think he has put on a few pounds and I notice his plate of food has been heaping lately... I keep telling him to cut out the soda and he will lose (he lost weight 2 years ago when he started working a more physical job). On the relationship side of things, he is getting to be more suspicious of male friends or men that I talk to in general... I had a feeling that would happen. But I guess I probably put him through the same thing a few years ago when he lost weight... anyone else having jealousy issues?

WTG!!!
I'm with you on the clothes downsizing. In the first few months-post surgery, I'd buy new pants every 4-6 inches down in waist size. As I got lower and lower, I started to notice, that 2 inches too big made a bigger difference than the 4-6 inches. Unfortunately, that means shopping more (and I'm a cheap skate). I found some great deals at a thrift store, and I think my weight is finally starting to stabilize, as I lost no weight this week, but we'll see. If I had my way, I'd quit losing right now.

You guys are awesome having success together. This has been so important for my DW and I, although we both had surgery. We all know the true changes come from changing lifestyle, and it sounds like you guys are doing well with that aspect. It is so important to pull together post-surgery and in general in a marriage.

Looking good there! Nice pics. I will have mine to post sometime Monday.
As for DH I think he is gaining but he says he isn't. He has been snacking like there is no tomorrow! And not the good snacks that I have around! String him up yet I will....lol
Topic: Question about Spouses
So, how is everyone's spouse handling the weight loss? My surgeon told my husband that one of two things would happen - he would either eat everything I didn't and gain weight. Or he would start eating more like me and lose. Well, my husband went for the latter and has lost 59 pounds. And he did not even have surgery!! Anyway, I am really proud of him. I posted a before and after of him on my site. Also, I posted my 6 month pictures. (I have lost 69 pounds) I also posted a before and after picture on a sideview. Even now, after the weight loss, it is still totally humiliating.

Jamie,
You are certainly not alone. I feel the same way as you. I had the lap band placed in March as well and I've lost 19 lbs. I've had 2 fills with 2cc in a 4cc band. My sister also had the band placed and lost about 25 lbs since March. I come to this board to see how others who have had their band placed in March are doing but very little lap band folks reply here. They are on the lap band forum. So I usually go to the there. However there still seem to be more folks having much better results than me. I try to remain positive by telling myself that I will not loose weight until the band is filled to the 'appropriate' amount. That may take a while. Until then my appetite is like it used to be and it does make me want eat all the 'wrong' things. I will go back to the doctor next week for a 3rd fill but from what some of the other lap banders say- restriction may not occur until the band is fully inflated, which I guess is 4 cc. I am praying that when I reach my 1 year anniversary I will have made much better progress, otherwise I will be sorely disappointed!
Topic: RE: Food Help Needed
Hi Nicole--
Even with 3 people here, I have always been like a short order cook. DH eats anything, DS has over 200 food allergies and then me--WLS.
But you are interested in the WLS stuff--
Well, I gave up red meat and still can't do chicken. I make salmon, tilapia and tuna at least 1-2 times/week. Breakfast is yogurt--Dannon light & fit or Fage with frozen fruit in it. Sometimes I'll have TLC crackers with light cream cheese, and lox (smoked salmon). I also enjoy Special K protein plus cereal with raisins and skim milk.
Lunch is tuna salad, egg salad, turkey jerkey with cheese (low fat of course), or cottage cheese with cinnamon and splenda sprinkled on it, then into the microw. for 15 seconds....yummmmmy! Some days I will make an egg white omelet with tomatoes, mushrooms and lowfat cheese.
Dinner is fish with a vegetable or tofu, and snacks are my trail mix (raw almonds, plain cheerios, dried fruit bits, extra raisins, and unsweetened banana chips).
Hope this helps!!
Lora
