Topic: 6 months out 124lbs. lost!
I went from a size 22w jeans to a size 10 juniors WOW! 284 at surgery now at 160lbs.
It seems like every week I am shrinking a little more. I am taking biotin for hair loss, and pre-natal vitamins every day. I wish everyone out here the best of luck!
Topic: Disappointing Weight Loss Month
Well, so far this month (i.e, three weeks), I have only lost about 4 pounds. I'm still exercising, but I think I eat too much. I'm a little bummed out about it. I wanted to get down into the 140s this month. Only 3 pounds - maybe I can do that in a week?!? To cheer myself up, I went shopping (a little retail therapy never hurt, right?) I used to HATE to shop, but I love it now. I bought 2 new suits, 2 pairs of pants, dress shirts, a sweater, a skirt and a pair of sweats -- All is size L or 10 petite. I was so excited. Not only because of the size, but because EVERYTHING was on sale!!!! Anyway, I hope my weight loss starts up again soon. My husband is catching up on me in pounds lost, and he did not even have surgery!!! ****ep telling him to stop stealing my thunder!)
Topic: RE: How many sizes are you down?
I started out in a 26 and am down to a size 18. My bra size has gone from a 44DD to a 40C
! I'm ok with the the 44 down to a 40 but the DD to a C is sortof disheartening!!! OK so maybe that's TMI but it's part of the game!

Don't be too frustrated!
I always try to focus on cementing in a better lifestyle when the weight loss seems to slow down. Before I know it, I'm losing again, and closer to a lifestyle that will keep me at a healthy weight in the long run. There is so much of life to enjoy... Don't let focusing on the loss keep you from soaking up every minute!

Hi Jamie,
I don't know much about the lap bands I had RNY. But I do know that you have lost 39 lbs so far and that is not anything to complain about! Laps lose weight more slowly then RNY according to what I have read, but they equal out in amount of weight lost over the long run. So please hang in there.
Is there a local support group in your area? One that meets monthly? It sounds like you could use some encouragement as we all do, this is not a journey to be taken alone.
As for any type of weight loss either with or without surgery you can have stalls or plataues (sp is bad tonite) Our bodies want to take a breather and catch up to themselves. A lot of times when there is a stall or slowdown you are losing inches not pounds.
I don't know what kind of protocol Banders are on with their food but with us we have to either up our calories a bit or go back to basics (beginning) for a couple of days to jump start our loss again.
Have you posted this on the lapband Forum? They may have better answers for you then I have.
Hang in there Jamie....it will happen.

Hey Jamie. Thanks for the note.
The difference between my loss so far and yours is our choice of surgery. You had the lap band, but I had the gastric bypass.
For the band, the "expected" weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs a week. With that in mind, you are pretty much right on target! Although the band is a slower loss, at about 5 years out, the two surgeries have shown to be equally effective.
I'm sorry to hear that you feel you are having trouble (I read your post, as well). Perhaps if you have a sit-down chat with your surgeon or whoever does yours fills, you can make sure they are aware of your concerns.
You ARE doing great... keep up the good work!
