Topic: Food Help Needed
Okay, I need some ideas!
I'm living alone now and having trouble with meal planning. I'd like to go to the grocery store tonight and cook for the week but I'm still feeling a little lost in the store when I go shopping. That said...
What kinds of meals are you preparing at home?
Are there any recipes you recommend?
Since I'm a little new to cooking and living on my own, how long do leftovers typically keep?
I recently bought some individually wrapped portions of salmon from Costco. I know lemon, parsley, and butter are usually used to season fish - any ideas for preparation?
I appreciate any help!

Topic: RE: THINNING HAIR?
It seems like a few people think that their hair will be thin forever. EVERYONE'S HAIR WILL COME BACK!!!! They should have told you all about it in your classes before surgery. Almost everyone's hair thins or at least has more hair fall out than "normal" between 3-6 months after surgery. It's from the shock of having our innards cut to pieces! The only thing you can do is try and eat your protein and wait it out. Your hair should start growing back considerably at around 9 months to a year out. Some peoples hair grows back quicker than others but everyone's grows back. Some people don't like it while it's thinning so they cut it. Most people had round faces and didn't want short hair until they lost their weight and didn't mind cutting it shorter. Some people's hair looks a bit funny with new hair growing in and the remaining long thin hair there too...it depends on what's going on with your hair. I've seen people who cut their hair and it looks alot better...and some it looked worse. Just remember it's temporary. Do what you think will make you feel better in the mean time. Right now I am not at the point to go a chopping...but I might. I'm just taking it as it goes...and right now it's all going to the floor or down the drain!!

Okay, my hair is thinning also. I try not to even comb it (LOL). I am going to boost up my protein and start taking the Biotin also. I know a couple of people who had hair loss after the surgery and some of it came back after the weightloss process. My hair stylist also suggested that I use Nioxin products as a hair regimen and I am about to start that now. Well, it is good to know that I am not alone in this situation. I look at the hair and it is falling out by the root. I can only hope it stops soon.

My hair is thinning too.
I say don't cut your hair shorter, as it may make the thinning more noticable.

I have no doubt you'll get there.
My extremely positive and quick results are not the NORM compared to most WLS patients. It has been quite a blessing. I really don't think there's much of a secret as much as each of our bodies are different, and as a result we have our own unique path to recovery. I think you're doing GREAT!!!

I've been trying to let my hair grow out for over a year now. I had my surgery in March 07 and it's falling out SO BAD! I knew it was going to. It is coming out in huge handfulls every shower. All throughout the day. And covers my pillows at night. So far it doesn't actually look like it's thinning out. I am hoping my hair was thick enough in the beginning to lose alot and still look like a normal persons head of hair.My hair used to be at the base of my hair line but I just don't like it that short anymore. Now it's a little past my shoulders...I can put it in a pony tail. Of course now when I pull the pony tail holder out a handfull of hair comes with it. I am glad they prepare you for this or I'd think something awful was happening. If my hair gets too thin I will consider shopping it off and use some sort of hair products to spike it up or style it or something. I guess right now I am just trying to think positive!
