Topic: RE: Peripheral Neurothopy
Hi - I've never heard of peripheral neurothopy until your post --- but if you type it in the OH search -- you see lots of other gastric bypass folks with the same issue. Check it out. Looks like its caused by a B-12 deficiency. Sorry you're having problems. Julie

Mary, So sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about Peripheral Neurothopy, but from your description it sounds like no fun at all. I understand your fellings/frustrations about not feeling like Dr.'s really know what they're talking about, or wondering if they are just making something up to give you a "possible" answer. I wish you the best as you work through this hardship. --Dave 350/233/205

I had My RNY done March 13,2007. I haven't had any stalls thus far and I hope I don't but know there is possibility that I will. I have lost 80 pounds so far. My goal is to loose 150# but that may change. Has anyone gotten peripheral Neurothopy after having there bypass. Doctors don't know why I now have it as i am not a diabetic. No one seems to have any answers so they blame it on my bypass. Other than that I am HEALTHY and happy. No more breathing meds. Everyone keep up the good work. Mary

I can't eat any processed foods to much sodiumbeans and peanut butter have became my best friend foods I can eat taco meat pretty good use 93/7 so has lil fat. I had tofu for the first time this past weekend. I was suprised i liked it. I like soybeans and soynuts. Dislike soy flour makes me sick just smelling it. I found some protien bars that I can eat that actually taste good. Things after surgery seem to have different taste now.

Topic: Peripheral Neurothopy
I am 18 weeks post -op today. Memorial day weekend i ended up in hospital with Cellulitis. before leaving hospital I started experience numbness in my legs.Right side could have been caused from Cellultis but not left side. Family doctor set up appointment with neurologist. Didn't get to see him till July 9th.They did a nerve study test that showed I had peripheral Neurothopy. He couldn't tell me why I had this. He ordered a glucous intollerance test. Not a test a gastric Bypass patient wants to take. Too much sugar made me sick it kept trying to come up. Was told if i threw up would have to start over. I did everything i could think of not to throw it up. fasting and first hour were normal hour three and for bloodsugar was 77 and 72. So I wasn't a diabetic. Doc said that since test came back as not diabetic that I probably got peripheral Neurothopy as a side effect of bypass. My blood work was all in normal limits. My question is is peripheral Neurothopy a side effect in some bariatric patients or is that just something doc is saying because he don't know why? If is Side efect for some what can make less painful? I am on Cymbalta and I don't sleep much at nite. When I take it morning I am easily agitated throught out day. Mary

Topic: RE: question about burping
Hey there! Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Been in Alabama for a month visiting family. I am almost 2 months out from my last fill and I am still praying that things will get better soon. It is like I can only take a few bites then that burping (sick) feeling and I am done eating. I have hardly eaten anything this last month and the scale says only like a 2 pds loss. I am thinking my body is holding on to everything that comes its way cause it thinks it is not going to get anything else!!! (and some days that is how it feels). I am thinking about going in and checking to see if they think I am too tight. Not real sure if I should wait awhile or just call. ANYWAY-are you feeling better? Sure hope so. Let me know how things are.
