Congrats on your success, and my prayers are in your behalf while you're on the mend. I love to see that your weight success has led you to being more active in things that give your life meaning. I too am extemely happy with my results since the surgery. Since my all time high weight I've lost 107 lbs. I'm down from 350 to 243. Not bad for somone 6'4". I to started at a 50-52" waist, and am now down to a 40 in most cuts of pants.

Topic: RNY update and Hernia Repair Yesterday
Hi all and a great big howdy from Dalton GA:
Well I just got back home last nite from outpatient umbilical Hernia repair and a bit sore and moving slow this morning.(lol Imagine that)
I am so pleased with my post-op progress that I thought I would post today.
First let me start by giving all the Praise and Glory to God. With out the prayers of my friends and church family this could not be as well. God has certainly been merciful to me and I can't thank him enough.
I had my RNY on March 28 and my life belongs to me again. I can not say enough about what this has done for me. I started out in a 50" waist and all 3x shirts and now I am proud to announce that I am teetering around 41" in the waist and down to all 1x shirts.
My suits all hang on me and it feels so good to wear shoes I could not get into for 2 years due to my diabetic problems, which are in complete remission now.
Best of all I feel like getting out and doing normal activities again I am playing golf again, working out in the yard and doing so many other things I had practically given up on. I also feel like traveling again and am back on the ministry trail as I travel thought out the Churches in our Assembly ( I belong to the Church of God of The Union Assembly) evangelizing the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I was at 332 when I saw the Doc in Feb., 317 at pre-op and down to around 254 now.
I know that this is not news to most of you guys but I feel free again.
Just a short update, I had hernia repair yesterday and doing fine with that too. A little sore this morning but feel well over all.
Please keep us in you prayers

Hello,
I just discovered this section of OH.
I had my 3 month check up. Labs were good except my Vit. D. Dr. increased it. I have lost 54 lbs since 3 days before my surgery. Also lost 5 inches from my waist.
At my 1 month check up my heart rate was very high. I was sent to a specialist and was dignoised with Atrial Fibrillation. (irregular heart beat). I was put on a couple of meds at that time. 2 months later my Cardo. Dr. Told me that A-Fib is gone. My heart rate is normal so he took me off of the 2 meds. He also told me that I should be getting off of my BP med. Woo Hoo now that makes me very happy.
I wasn't doing much for excerise because the Cardo Dr told me not to get my heart rate up. I kept my walking to a slow 1/2 mile walk.
I am now walking 1/2 mile two times a day at a faster rate now.
I am so happy to have this tool. I feel so much better and love getting on the scale and seeing it go down and not up.
So far I am not having food issues. I am trying new foods daily. I even had a Starbucks sugar free carmel ice Latie with low fat milk. It was very sweet tasting. But so good.
Everyone is doing wonderful it is not who can lose the most weight but how much we are getting healthier.
Congrats to you ALL.....

Hi Everyone..it's great to see how everyone is doing. I had surgery on 3/27 and have lost 60 pounds. I must admit that I haven't embraced the exercise portion of the program but plan to change that. I bet it'll speed up my weight loss. The only food I've tried that I've consistently had a problem with is chicken. I've had beef in the form of meatballs and meatloaf and that's been fine. I wonder if it's just solid meat i can't tolerate yet.
Anyway, I feel good. I'm so glad I did this and can't wait to see where I'll be 3 months from now. I hope to feel lighter and healthier still.
Take care, fellow Marchers!!
Sadie
p.s. how's the hair loss? I hope I'm not BALD in 3 months.

Hi -- I'm a "lurker", but decided to post after 3 months of viewing. -- My surgery was 3/27 and I've lost 77 lbs since starting, 44 since surgery. I guess I'm on the slow side for losing compared to many of you, but I'm ecstatic about my results. (Someone who could never lose more than 20 lbs!) -- Anyway, I'm at 150 lbs now -- so 25-30 more to lose. Can't wait to buy permanent clothes - but have fun with consignment shops for now -- looking for bargains. No problems with dumping - but need to get back on track with measuring my food. I tend to feel too full fairly often. Body seems to be snapping back into place, rear-end and thighs a littly saggy...but I've seen lots of naked ladies at the gym and they all look like **** too, so I'm ok with my own "stuff". :) Love hearing how everyone else is progressing. Not looking forward to hair loss -- as mine is too thin to begin with -- and I don't look good in hats.

Hi everyone, Melissa here from CT. I don't post as often as I lurk here but I do enjoy reading this group with people who are close to my surgery date.
I had RNY 3/15/07. The day of surgery I was 339 lbs, today I am 257, so I've lost 82 lbs, and if I am to reach my fantasy goal of 155 lbs I have 102 lbs left to lose.
I feel mostly like a normal person except when eating of course! I dump bad on sugar or even sugar free stuff if it has sugar alcohols so I have to read labels closely.
I'm averaging 500 cals a day now which is an improvement for me and I still struggle to get in enough water daily but have been improving on that and get in at least 6 glasses now, sometimes more. And I never forget my vitamins.
I have not exercised yet and need to figure out a way to get motivated and start.
And that's about it!

So far I've usually chosen chili or salad bar. Salad bars I like because you can get cheese, cottage cheese, a little chicken. Sometimes I'll just order a shrimp ****tail appetizer.
Ruby Tuesdays has a killer white bean chili with shredded chicken. Friendly's had a meal of chicken with melted cheese on top.
The best thing about eating out is the leftovers will last you many more meals so you don't have to feel like you wasted $$ by only having a few bites.
Many restaurants will offer meats smothered with toppings you cannot tolerate, most of them don't mind if you say you want the meat with no toppings, it doesn't cause them any extra trouble to just not put them on.

Hi all,
I had surgery on March 6th with a start weight of 286 and now weigh 203, for a loss of 83lbs, only 40 left to go...woo hoo! The big milestone for me will be in 2 more pounds I will no longer be obese, but overweight. I have never wanted to be overweight so much in my life
Even with my big loss I don't feel much different than I did before surgery. I have more cardiovascular stamina but don't feel like I had major surgery.
My hair loss has begun this week. Really sucks. I have lost so much hair in just this past 10 days or so. I also dump on almost all fruit and eggs just don't work for me anymore. Other than that I eat low carb, high protein, low fat and it is pretty routine for me now.
Overall feeling good like most of us and looking forward to a healthier future.
Hugs

I eat out all the time and it's always something with grilled chicken in it. Well, sometimes I can find a pork item on the menu that doesn't sound too fatty, but my usual standby is chicken. I also order ham and cheese omlets sometimes or scrambled eggs.
