I do it all. I weigh every day. I'm actually a little obsessed with the scale, but oh well. I also measure once/month and take pictures once/month. I really noticed the loss between months 2 and 3 in the pictures.

I had surgery 3/13 and have lost 55 pounds, 45 to go. I feel absolutely great - I have so much energy and I'm a RUNNER again. Well - I only run for 30 minutes/day, but I worked up from 20 minutes. So far, I have not had any trouble with any type of food. I have not tried anything real sugary, but I have had ground beef and different fruits with no problems. I am so glad I had this surgery!

Hi, all --- this is my first posting on this forum. Down 54 pounds since my surgery date (3-05-07), 101 to get to goal (starting weight 291 lbs). I've had a couple of plateaus and have found that exercise is key for me. I'm not going to lose if I don't move. I believe that I have the metabolism of a corpse. I have been so incredibly fortunate thusfar. No complications to speak of...no dumping...minor food issues (seafood) that have disappeared, no strictures or infections and the like. I do have a little hair-loss (despite taking Biotin) and have had a handful of moderate to severe dizzy spells which may or may not be related to the WLS. But, my energy level is through the roof, I'm off my diabetes medication, I've dropped at least 2 sizes, I'm working out semi-regularly (room for improvement) and people are noticing. While my progress may not be as dramatic as some others, I really cannot complain! You ALL sound like you are doing SPECTACULARLY well! I know what this means to all of you...you should all feel very proud of your progress. I'm proud of you all!

Hello, I am down 62 pounds and have 63 pounds to go. I cannot eat fruits because I have dumped from apples, bananas, and cherries. I hope everyone is doing well. Melissa

Hey Bernie The results of bloodwork are really what tell me I'm doing better. Sure my clothes are falling off me and the scale and tape measure are revealing lower numbers these days, but my goal was to be healthy again and the bloodwork tells the tale! I weigh and measure myself once a week - more to set personal short-term goals and make sure what I'm eating and doing activity-wise is effective. Nicole

Hey Gang, I have lost 46 lbs since surgery, and 72 lbs total. I am doing great, and loving life. I still have about 154 lbs to loose. I'm ok with being a slow looser until I get on this dang board and read everyone else weight lost for the month. I dump on everything, and I'm tired of it. Any type of juice, even sugar free stuff. The sugar alcohol get to me. I love going to the gym ,and working out for an hour 3 or 4 times a week. However, I'm happy with my results, and knowing that everyone looses at a different pace. I'm wishing the best of luck to everyone! Hugs, Lesley

Topic: RE: Eating Out
Thanks for all the recommendations! As I kinda suspected, ya'll are eating foods that aren't on my allowed list, so I can't take advantage of many of the yummy suggestions just yet. I went out to eat tonight and ate lettuce wraps sans the lettuce, rice noodles, and used a hint of the sauce to give it some flavor as I'm sure those sauces are loaded with sugar. I long for the days when I can eat a salad! Or beef! Or citrus fruits! Or carbs of any kind! Someday Thanks again! Nicole

Good question: When you asked this, my first thought was "all of the above." Then, after I thought about it a little more, I realizes that tracking progress really depends on what your goals are. Sure, losing weight is on everyone's list, but is that really the main reason I got this surgery? NO. I had surgery to get a more healthy lifestyle. With this in mind, my true progress is in how much healthier my lifestyle is compared to what it was like pre-surgery. Anyway--need to increase the exercise and start enjoying my now lighter body! --Dave

Congrats on your weight lost! I feel fabulous...most days. That is truly the honest answer. Some days are better than others, and I don't know how much of that is regular life happening, and how much of it has to being post-surgery RNY. Don't forget that we're not here on the board to have some kind of contest. If we were, the folks with the most initial weight to lose will eventually beat us all out. I think we're all here to give a hand when someone else needs it, or grab a hand when we need it. This past week I passed the 100 lbs mark since my highest weight. I've lost 75 since my surgery and 102 since my highest weight. Jodell is now in the 50-60 lbs lost range. My life is changing in the weight arena, so now I'm gearing up to make positive improvements to the rest of my life. Stay positive as you close in on goal: --Dave 350/248/205
