Hey Bernie, I went through a 2 week plateau, but nothing like you described. It doesn't seem illogical though that you might lose slower than others. My total excess body weight was 160 versus your 100 and sometimes the fatter folks lose more in the beginning. You're almost at the halfway mark! Congratulations! Nicole

Oh dear, it sure sounds like you've had a rocky beginning. But look at you now, 70 pounds lighter and hopefully on your way to saying goodbye to bedrest! I'll bet the pounds start flyin' off once you can groove around a little Thanks for sharing with us and feel better!

Wow, you're doing great! I was also in a size 28 pants and am wearing a size 20 now, so we seem to be right on track! How do you like the water aerobics? I've been thinking about try it out. Haha, a face lift! You must be looking great! I'll bet you feel younger too. I don't necessarily feel any younger but it sure is a helluva lot easier to MOVE these days. Congrats to you and thanks for sharing with us!

I'm seriously discovering a whole new world of shopping. It's so unfair how expensive plus-sized clothing is! How funny! I'm wearing some of my mom's tops Thanks for sharing your latest and greatest!

i had surgery on mar. 27. i have lost 30lbs. (40 if you wanna include the pre-op loss)...i'm feeling like it's coming off very slow and sporadically...like i'll lose 3-5lbs. after a fill then even out, maybe lose 1-2 lbs over a week or two...then nothing. it's frustrating, but at least it's coming off right??!! i know i look better and feel better, so i'm focusing on that and trying to follow the rules (which i often forget, and that's probably why things are slow-going) good luck to everyone, and we'll get there!!!!!! jamie

I had my surgery 3.13.07 and it was open rny. To make a long story short...they opened my incision on 3.20 due to complications. I eviscerated myself on 3.31 and had emergency surgery on 4.1 They cleaned up my bowel and put everything back in place. Needless to say because of the type of surgery they opened it up after 3 days. I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks from that surgery....bed rest only...no walking other then to bathroom and no sitting up in chair. I came home and within 6 hours I was back at ER spiking a temp and incoherent! Needless to say I was readmitted. They discovered I had an infection in the bones of my lower spine. I was there for 2 more weeks on complete bedrest. I came home on 5.2 and have been on bed rest with IV anti-biotics and a very large wound. I am allowed up now though for 20 minutes an hour if I don't do anything other then walk to bathroom, kitchen or computer. I hope he changes this next week when I see him! Despite all of this the bariatric part of this all has gone great! I have been able to tolerate all the foods that I have tried, I am staying within the Nut's guidelines. No dumping or anything like it, and have lost a grand total of 70 pounds.....on bed rest !!! I try not to think to much about how much I would have lost if I had been able to get up and move...exercise even! Things are coming along and I am slowly (well not slowly) getting tired of my bed and reading and listening to music. When we are well and healthy but tired we all think....oh to be on bedrest for a week or so...heaven....NOT it gets old real fast!

Hi there, I am 3 months post op as of tomorrow. I have lost 60 pounds. I have no appetite, but I have no troubles with foods. I just don't feel like eating most of the time. I do though to make sure I get in my protein and water. Last week was a slow week but I kind of expected it because I lost over 6 pounds the week before. I have gone from a size 22 to a size 14 (some 12's!!!!) in 13 weeks. I exercise about an hour to an hour and a half everyday. I have 53 pounds left to lose. Life is fabulous! We all lose at different rates. It sound slike you are doing fine to me! Keep plugging along - you'll get there! ~Robin

Topic: Sugar Free Cheesecake!!!!
I don't know about ya'll, but I love cheesecake. So I hunted around and found a great sugarfree cheesecake recipe in an Atkins cookbook. I made it for our dessert on Father's Day and everyone loved it. The only real difference that anyone noticed was that it is not as sweet as regular cheesecake, but that made it better to me. Also, the recipe doesn't call for any crust, but I made one that is low carb by crushing up pecans, walnuts, a couple low fat graham crackers, cinnamon, butter spray, and a couple packets of sweet n low in the food processor. I didn't measure these ingredients so I can't tell you the nutritional info on it, but it did add protein (because of the nuts). It didn't taste any different than a regular graham cracker crust to me. After I mixed it all together in the food processor I just pressed into the bottom of the 9-inch spring form pan and baked it 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Here's the cheesecake recipe: 16 oz. light cream cheese at room temperature (could try 8oz. of fat free and 8 oz. of light) 3 eggs 1 cup light sour cream (could try 1/2 c. light and 1/2 c. fat free) 1/2 of a vanilla bean, scraped 12 packets of sugar substitute Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 15 minutes. Pour mixture into a 9-inch springform pan. Place in a pan of ho****er in the oven. If water evaporates during baking, add more ho****er as needed. Bake for 1 hour, turn oven off and leave cake in oven for 1 hour. Then refrigerate. If you cut it into 12 servings, each serving has 139 calories, 10.5 g of fat, 4.4 g carbs, and 7 g. of protein (without the crust or strawberries). I also made macerated strawberries for a topping. I sliced strawberries and mixed them with about 2 tablespoons of really good balsamic vinegar and a couple packs of sweet n low. Let is sit at room temperature for a couple hours. Then refrigerate and use as a topping for your cheesecake. It's also really good over sugar freee angel food cake with sugar free Cool Whip. Enjoy, everyone! ~Robin

Topic: question about burping
Hey yall! Just need some advice. Had surgery on March 13, 2007. First fill went well. Had my second fill on June 4th and this one has been different. My first was 2cc and the last one 1 cc. What is going on now is some sort of lump of saliva/burp goin on. I really do not know how to describe it. It is like I need to burp then a huge lump of saliva comes out THEN I burp and feel better. BUT also there is not a meal yet that I can really eat. The only thing that I have not had problems with is in the morning a Special K protein bar and it takes like a Rice Krispy type bar. I am wondering if it is because it is a softer food. Just really concerned. I am thinking could I be too tight?!!!

Topic: Can we have a roll call. I feel like a slow loser
Hi, normally I post on the main message boards. I thought I would start posting a little in the March surgery dates board. So how much have you all lost and how much do you have to go. I have lost 44 lbs. I have 56 more pounds until goal. Things really have slowed lately. Seems like I loose for a week and a half and then I am done until the following month. Anyone else like this. Brenda
