Hey Arneisha, As hard as it is, try not to compare your weight loss to others'. Everyone loses at a different rate! You're losing at a little over 4 pounds a week - that's marvelous! My average is 5 lbs a week, including a plateau I hit for about a week. As long as you stick to the food choices recommended by your doctor's office, you'll be fine. But you asked what we're eating, so I'll share... Edamame (I eat about a handful, warmed up with kosher salt sprinkled on top) Chicken Fajitas (Sometimes I eat out, sometimes I make 'em at home) Chicken, Edamame, & Veggies with low fat, low sugar stir fry sauce. Apple & low sugar, low fat peanut butter Small handful of cashews with a meal Cottage Cheese with a non-citrus fruit (I can't have citrus yet) Egg (made any way possible) with veggies and sometimes cheese Feta cheese seems to give almost anything a good KICK! I'm not allowed tomatoes yet because of their acidity, but sometimes I'll add a tiny bit of hot sauce to a dish to give it some flavor Herbs and spices have saved me - get a few good ones and you'll be set! Good luck! Nicole

From what I have heard, it can take up to a year for your surgeon to find that "sweat spot" for you fill wise. I had RNY, but our support groups are for both. My nut was the one that talked about this.

Topic: RE: ROLE CALL!!! (A couple days late)
Hi everyone! Sorry I have been absent for awhile. My mother was in the ICU for awhile and then we thought she had liver cancer. Turns out that it was a burst vessel that showed on the scan and not a mass, so she is ok. And then there's all the usual life stuff - ugh. Anyway, I have had my ups and down but am doing good overall. Starting: 313 Surgery (3/20): 280 Today: 245 Goal: 142 People now say how much younger I look. I never thought I looked that old, but I guess I did. Today is the first bad food day I have had in over a week I think. I ate too fast at dinner and ended up losing it. Then it was hard to eat or drink after that. I also struggle with water and exercise, but I am hoping that will pick up soon. I got a bicycle the other day and will start riding it around as soon as we can get the brakes working right. I haven't ridden a bike since I was a kid, so it will be fun. Anyway, hope everyone is doing good and I'll try and keep up now that things are settling down. See you all later! Sherry

Rita, Glad to hear once again that you're doing so great! I know what you mean by life not slowing down so you can get some exercise in. I've had to start making time and making it a priority. As a result, I've been doing better with exercise over the past week, and have started weight lifting again (after a 10 year break). Feels good, but I'm healing... Glad to hear you're over a weight loss hump. I've been through several plateaus as I've been losing my weight, and sometimes it even seems like I gain weight for a few days (i.e. 1-2 pounds). I've been adding Triscit crackers and shreaded wheat to my diet. My mom always says that that fiber stuff helps your body work better. Triscuits have been a favorite food for me over the past month or so. Comments abound, and I just had to go through my closet to GET RID of a bunch of my clothes FOREVER. It felt really, really good. Jodell also discovered some dresses in the closet that are now her size, but she hasn't been able to wear for years. We'll dust them off, and run them through the wash. Have a great week everyone! --Dave 337/263/205

Topic: RE: Plateau already???
I hit one around week two and three too. I enter my weight into fitday.com. My plateau lasted about two weeks but I dropped several pounds at once then I started losing. I have to agree that that was when I saw the inches come off. I had to relax about the scales too. I actually record my weight on Sundays but I still weigh every day so I can see what I'm doing right or wrong. If I'm up one day, I look to see if I ate something that could have been full of sodium the day before or did I get all my water in the day before. The scale is only a guide. It doesn't always tell the whole story! Hang in there, Janie

It sounds like you are doing great with protein and water. What about exercise? I think that is really what has made the difference for me. I work out for at least an hour every day. Good Luck, Robin

You two ladies need to give me your secret to dropping so much so fast! I am down about 33, and my 8 weeks is today! I am having some trouble with getting much real food down. So I eat what I can and I am exercising much more now. I'm doing about 75 to 85 grams of protein and 70 to 80 oz of water. Anything else I can try? i'M so close to Onederland, I can taste it! Anything will help. thanks, Becky H 244/211/136

Congratulations, Rita! You're doing really well. I am SO happy for you. You'll be at goal before you know it. Isn't this surgery amazing??? Every day when I step on the scale and see the number go down just a little more, I feel that I am truly blessed to have been given this phenominal tool. There must be seomthing in the air. I am dropping about a pound a day this week too! I am down to 195.8 as of this morning for a loss of 47.4 pounds in 9 weeks. I hope this keeps up. If it does, I'll be half way to goal in about 9 more days! You should be so proud of yourself and what you have accomplished in such a short time! Keep up the terrific job! , Robin

Topic: Two Month Update!!
Hi all!! I know I just posted a couple of days ago but yesterday was my official two month surgeversary!! I am really starting to feel thankful for my surgery!!! That initial horrormoon is coming to an end and I am SOOO excited!!!! People are starting to really notice my weight loss and already treat me differently (which really TICS me off) I have lost a good amount of weight this week and it seems like it comes of in chunks. Yesterday I weighed in at 265.6 for a total weight loss of 45.4 lbs. Today I weighed in at 264.6. It is hard to believe i have lost 46.4 lbs in two months but I have!! Now it is not so hard to believe that I can lose 90-100 lbs in six months because I am about half way there already! I do really need to kick up the exercise and start going to the gym regularly. I keep waiting for my life to settle a little more but I'm not sure if that is going to happen any time soon! I love my new energy and sometimes I forget I even had surgery ****il i eat...then it all comes back to me and if I forget even then it all comes back up!) I am just really glad I did this and can't wait to see where the next year takes me! Hope everyone is having a GREAT week! with a smile, Rita
