Topic: RE: question?
Hi, I had lap band surgery 3/5/07 and I am doing great. I am doing things I haven't done in many years, riding a bike, playing tennis, and volleyball. I am down about 45lbs so far. I don't get winded as fast as I used to. I have had 2 fills so far, I am at 2.8cc's in my 4cc band. I finally know what restriction feels like. I am learning how to make better food choices. I have quite a bit of weight to lose, in total around 178lbs. My first goal is to be down 50lbs by 3 months out - 6/5, so I have about 2 wks to lose 5 more pounds to hit that goal. I am on the boards often but I don't post much. I just like reading what everyone has on their minds. Anyway, hope this answers your questions. How are you doing so far.

Yep I hit a plateau at about weeks 3-5.... and since then I've got the weirdest losses:
2 weeks before surgery 345
day before surgery 327
2 days after surgery 334
2 weeks after surgery 303
3 weeks after surgery 301
4 weeks after surgery 307
5 weeks after surgery 302
6 weeks after surgery 295
7 weeks after surgery 290
8 weeks after surgery 288
9 weeks after surgery 282
SO I see it going down, and I've been sitting here going nuts over how slow it's going... until I put it down in writing and see it for myself, yes a bit of a plateau around week 3-5 and a bit of gain with that "time" and all... but then on the downward trend again... I guess it does help to just see it in writing.

It could be a plateau, but that's when I have found that I lose the most inches. So try not to worry about it too much. Just keep eating right and exercising - making sure to get in all of your protein and water every day. You'll be fine. I hit a pleateau that lasted for 2 weeks very early on (weeks 2 & 3 postop), and it freaked me out at first. Then I saw myself literally shrinking before my own eyes and quit worrying about it so much.
You're doing great! Keep it up and you'll reach goal before you know it!

4 pounds per week sounds great to me! I will be 2 months post op on MOnday and as of right now I have 43 pounds. I think by then I should lose another pound making it 44 pounds. I am averaging about 4 pounds per week too.
Good Luck,
Robin
Topic: RE: what are you eating?
Hey Bethany,
Wow, after reading everyone else's replies, I'm afraid I can't offer anything interesting. My surgeon's aftercare program includes a far more strict diet than most everyone else. I wish I could eat a salad and red meat and citrusy fruits!
I've been eating a lot of edamame with some kosher salt sprinkled on top. I love it!
Good luck,
Nicole

Thanks so much I think I have just gotten caught up with everyone else number's and not appreciating my own number's. Hey 41 lbs is great you keep up the great work. What do you think is the cause to the four week plateu.

4 lbs a week sounds great to me!! I lost 15 before surg and at one month a post op I had lost 26 lbs. Total of 41 lbs. Past 4 weeks "nothing". Talking about discouraging. Sounds like you are doing great. Keep up the good work.

Well, the first two months breezed by and I lost 42 pounds. Now, in the course of the last week, I lost only 1 pound and I gained that back as of this morning! I'm exercising, but could I be eating too much? I noticed my appetite has increased but I try not to eat too crazy. UGH!

Hey gang, I was wondering how is your weight loss going? I'm only losing 4 lbs a week since the 4th week. My first two week I lost 16 lbs now at 8 weeks out I've only lost 32 lbs. I even only lost 1 lbs two weeks ago but it was that time of the month. Now don't get me wrong this is wonderful I'm just worried I'm going to be a slow loser, and becuase I have so much to lose I'm worried my honeymoon will be over, and I'm still going to be FAT dare I say that about myself!!! I'm just really scared. I started out 412 lbs, and the day of surgery I was 386 lbs, now I'm 354 lbs. I have lost a total of 58 lbs. If your doing really well do tell your success story. I hope to kick up my water intake that is the second biggest problem I'm having. The first being that I can't eat food. I'm having an EGD Dilation done Tuesday morning at 7:00 am. Thanks for sharing any advice is welcome!
