Topic: RE: 2 month Follow up...
I like to try to remind myself that if I lose a little slower, I may be able to avoid plastic surgery. It gets me through the no weight loss weeks. When I get frustrated with the scale, I don't step on it for a while! You're doing awesome.... give yourself the credit you deserve!

Give yourself a break! I think you're weight loss is AWESOME. My wife Jodell had her surgery on 3-27, and she was frustrated with her weight loss. I am just a couple weeks further out than you, but I have to admit I've had those frustrating weeks where you don't lose anything. I had to take a break from the scale, and just focus on doing what was healthy. I think another trick is to avoid comparing yourself to other's losses, as everyone's experiences are different because their bodies are different.

Topic: RE: Almost 60 lbs gone!!!!
Awesome work on the 60 pounds lost. I too have been amazed by how quickly I've lost weight. I just went over the half-way point to goal with 67 pounds lost!
A few weeks ago we had a lake trip that was absolutely enjoyable.
For me, life is alot more fun when it doesn't revolve around food.

Hi Rita,
I'm still here. I continue to loose weight, but at a much slower rate than at first. I am doing great with my water and with my protein. My secret with the water is to keep a full water bottle at my desk at work while I am working. By getting the liquids in @ work, I don't have to stress about it when I get home. For protein, I like the South Beach protein bars (19 grams of protein per bar) and the South beach pizza (31 grams of protein per frozen pizza). I occasionally use the new whey protein (half at a time), but currently prefer the protein bars. When I need a snack @ work, I use a protein bar.
As many here may be aware, my wife Jodell had her surgery 3-27 as well. She has now lost 35 pounds, and I've lost 67 pounds. That's over 100 pounds between the two of us. Jodell wishes she was losing faster, but I think she's looking FAB and is TOO HARD on herself. I would bet alot of the folks on this board are being too hard on themselves.
Go by the rules, focus on healthy vs. weight lost, and enjoy life in your now lighter bods!

Topic: RE: 7 Weeks post-op and new to this board...
Bill,
Great to hear you're doing so well. I can't help but read your posts, and how much weight you've lost and think about how similar your weight loss is to my own. At my highest point, I was about 350, and am now down to 270. My waist size is down from 52 to 48, and the 48s are starting to feel loose (I tried to buy them tight.). Although I didn't have diabetes, I was a prisoner in my own body, and didn't realize the level to which I was addicted to overeating.
Great to see you on the board, and hope to hear from you again as you progress towards goal.

Topic: 2 months out, and over half way there!!
As of yesterday, I'm 2 months out, and have lost 67 pounds. I'm feeling great, and have adapted into my new diet. Energy levels have increased as long as I make sure to get all of my liquids and protein in. 67 pounds is HUGE for me because it gets past my half way point to goal!!! I've now had to purchase new clothes, and I went from a 52 waist size down to a 44 waist size. Although the 44's were kind of snug when I bought them, they are already starting to look "loose."
As many of you may be aware, my wife (Jodell) had RNY 2 weeks after me (3-27). She is doing fabulous, and has lost a total of 35 pounds. We went shopping for her too, and she fit into some sizes she didn't think possible 6 weeks out from surgery. Our lives have definately changed, as they no longer revolve around food. Been doing great with water, protein, and vitamins. I'd like to say I'm exercising, but I'm trying to take it easy until a few more weeks pass. Our lives keep us pretty buzy with our 4 children ages 1 through 8.

I totally understand cutting out the eggs...they make me so sick.

Topic: 7 Weeks post-op and new to this board...
I am always finding new boards here..lol.. like a baby duck, I seem to wake up in a new world every day. I am having so much fun since my WLS. I am no longer taking meds for diabetes(8 pills and 80 units of novus 70/30 pre-op),I am finding new clothes in my closet every day. I am now wearing 2x shirts and my waist has gone from 50 to a 46. I am still ugly but weight never was a factor with that as I was never much to look at before...lol.
I went saturday and hit golf balls at the range for the first time in four years as I have not felt like it. It was great and I am hitting the course this weekend I hope. I used to love the game so much and it was torture to not be able to go with my son and friends to play.
I had let my diabetes make me a prisoner in my own body but now I am free!! It is the best move I have ever made and I would not back up from it for a second.
My highest weight was 339, I was 317 on my surgery date and as of last weds., my 6 week date, I was down to 273. My goal is 170-180 and I am so excited about it.
I just want to thank the Lord for His mercy on me, my dear wife for her love and wonderful support through all this and to everyone that whispered up a prayer for me.

Topic: RE: Hey..
Hey Mo,
I vomit when I eat too fast too or if I eat something that is too dry for me like fish or chicken without any kind of sauce on it. I dumped one time when I ate a calcium citrate chocolate chew that had too much sugar for me . The symptoms were different - I felt a tightness in my chest like I was having a heart attack, and I was sweating profusely and overall just felt really bad for about 15 minutes. Then it went away. Another time though (more recently) I ate a strawberry - well, 2 bites of it at least. After the first bite, my husband said that I had a really funny look on my face, and I said that it tasted really sweet. It was so good that I took another bite - wrong move!!! The dumping started, but then I threw up too. I felt better as soon as I threw up. So no more strawberries for me for a while.
I hope that helped some
.

I would like to know what is the difference between Dumping and Vomiting? Is it considered the same thing? I Vomitted 2 times since surgery and that was from eating 2 darn fast and I really paid the cost for that. Now I take it slow...
What about you have you dumped or vomitted. how many times and why?
