Topic: RE: Major issues with burping and bloating
Amy, I am no Dr., so all I can give you is my personal experience. My stomach is actually larger on my right side than my left. So much so that my bb is off center by about 4 inches (you notice it if I stand up straight and face you). I asked my surgeon about this at my one month appointment and his response was that it was normal. As your body begins to consume the fat stores it does not necessarily care about symetry. Eventually everything will even out. In my case, I lost a lot of weight in my chest, arms, and legs right out of the gate. This left me looking rather deflated but with a big belly. The more I work out and the more weight I lose, the more I am seeing the stomach start to follow along. But it is still where most of my weight is. And it is still lopsided. As for the burping...I do much more of that, along with passing gas, then I ever used to. Again, probably a product of the new diet and the new plumbing. Hope that helps! Dave

Topic: Major issues with burping and bloating
I am having some major issues with burping and bloating. My stomach is stretched out even though the rest of me has lost weight. I can't figure out what it is that is causing this to happen, or if it is a problem with the surgery itself. Food today: 1 protein bullet water (non carbonated) slices of chicken cottage cheese some cream cheese spread on the chicken Could it be the cottage cheese? Is there lactose in it and maybe that is causing the huge belly bloating? Any ideas or advice? I am still in Brazil (surgery date for DS was 3/12/07)

HI There, We are just about in the same place. I had my surgery on March 21st and have lost 35.2 pounds so far. I am very pleased. I have dropped form 22's and 20's down to a very comfortable size 16. My hubby calls me the incredible shrinking woman, which cracks me up everytime he says it. You're doing great! So keep doing whatever you're doing! Good Luck, Robin

Diane, You are totally right. We were talking about this in our support group last night as a matter of fact. Everybody's experience will vary widely. We have to keep in mind that our success shouldn't be measured by our weight loss but progress towards our goals. Of course weight loss is a primary goal, but so is feeling better and more energetic, and I can tell you that I am definitely improving in both of those categories. Not to mention the fact that I'm off Diabetes meds and CPAP!!! My experience has been that I lost a ton during the first three week liquid phase but have plateaued since. No worries though, I know it will start coming off again any day now, and I feel great I'm down 42 pounds from my peak weight of 297 and I can walk three miles now! Mike Bialowitz, Columbia, SC

Hi...I feel so behind! chicken has made me sick so far as has ground turkey. My new discovery today is fake italian food. 1/4 to 1/2 cup of part skim ricotta cheese with some pasta sauce over it. microwave for a minute or so. Yummy!! I was told to wait at least another week before trying chicken again. But I've lost 32 pounds since my surgery so I'm NOT complaining

Oh yeah, Girls??? I had mine on 3/19 and lost 20lbs. Feel better? LOL The Dr. also feels that this is OK. The truth is that I would never be able to have lost this amt. in a month...so I'll take it and be happy. We have to stop comparing weight loss with everyone elses. It's self defeating. Just keep your eyes on the prize! Good Luck to all of us. Take Care~~ Diane

That's not such good news. Yikes...so this is what I can expect too! Well, if you browse the main board today, there isn't a whole lot we can do except continue getting all your protein, vits and water in. Take Care~~ Diane
