Topic: New to Board--5 weeks post-op
Hi, Everyone! I had my Roux-en-Y laparascopically at OHSU five weeks ago and have lost 35 pounds. I started as a size 24 and am now an 18/20. I tried on a dress that was 1X (rather than 3X) and was amazed that it fit me!
I am now almost at the point where my physician says its okay to begin serious aerobic exercise (at 6 weeks post-op) and am looking forward to that. Has anyone else begun to exercise, and how is it going?
I have just ordered the New Whey Protein Bullets and can't wait to try them. I have been finding it rather difficult to get as much protein as required, and hate the thought of my hair falling out because I can't get it all in!

Check out this website: http://www.southbeachdiet.com/kraft/kraft.asp
It lists the SB meals and has their nutrional information. I usually eat the Caprese Chicken w/Broccoli and Cauliflower

Hi Lori.
Congrats on your weight loss.
Don't worry...your hubby would know who you are no matter how thin you get.
There is so much for you to be excited about. Yaaaaaaaaaay!

Topic: 5 week update
Hi all,
Well I was going to post a one month update but I am behind in everything. Tomorrow I hit 5 weeks. I'm eating well - getting in my protein with the help of my protein shake in the morning. I need to work on vitamins and exercise. Although I did attend my first step aerobics class this week. So it's a start at least.
I have lost a total of 29.5lbs so far -- woo hoo! But my biggest news this week is that last weekend I had to go buy a new pair of jeans The jeans I had were just way too big and falling off - literally. I was a size 20W before the surgery and I got into a size 16W and I could have gotten into a 14W but they were just tighter than I like. I'm so excited! That was so much better than seeing any weight loss on the scale. I'm just so excited because I'm thinking within a few more months I will be able to go to the Misses department instead of the Women's department -- gonna have to take pictures for the scrapbook. That means I'll have to tear up my Lane Bryant card -- LOL.
My hubby comes home from deployment sometime before June so any weight loss will be great. He's wondering what I will look like at homecoming. I told him that I might have to make a sign saying "Honey, here I am".
I can definately tell the weight loss as I'm starting to feel bones that I have NEVER felt before -- I told my husband today when he called - "I have collar and shoulder bones!" -- he laughed. I have just never been able to feel them.
Thank you all for letting me share with you.

Hi Vivan, I hope they get this figured out for you. I know you are frustrated and in need of some solid food. Have a safe drive and good luck!

Topic: Back to the clinic for me....
Well, the deal is...I called Barix everyday and spoke to a nurse for the past few days,
I have managed to keep liquids down and when I tried anything else...which I finally did today...( oatmeal this am, and scrambled eggs at lunch) I got incredible pain in my chest...and felt very ill. SOOO, Dr. Kam says come on down...I have an appt to see him Monday at 8:30 am.. I totally dread the 6 hour drive again and I really don't want to miss more work..but this journey is not predictable...I hope all is well....and I can start eating at least some soft foods without feeling like I am having a heart attack.
we shall see..I will let you know the results..

Omg, I was dying laughing at you. I feel the same way! I said that to myself today. I must have really been uncomfortable in these clothes before surgery b/c now they are loose but I can still wear them and the last I checked I was down 33 lbs!! I had surgery on 03/19 and weighed in at 304, I have ppl telling me they can see it in my face. I can't wait until I see my mom Saturday. She lives in another state than I do, so I can see what she says.

I'm with you totally on this I do the same thing. I've tried everything with food and it all makes me sick and throw up. I'm going in on Monday A.M. and getting my esophogus stretched and the opening to my stomach. I'm sure that is your problem because I've had this same problem for about 3 weeks now. So I know exactly how you feel whatever I tried made me so sick and I would wait the 30 minutes b/4 and eat slowly and chew chew chew and it didn't help. I have been reading blogs of people that had this surgery either b/4 I did or after me and they are eating way more item than I can. I was even to the point where I wanted a reversal. I will let you know next week if it helped but please get ahold of your DR. soon.
Best of luck and if you need anything please let me know..
