Also use a baby spoon when you eat - it helps with eating smaller portions and more slowly. Chew chew and chew some more. But I would definately let your doctor know you're having such problems.

I can't believe you guys complainging about the taste of protein shakes. I love mine. Atkins are great, only I can't really get them in Hong Kong, and EAS make brilliant ones.

Oh oh wow! That is so good to know. I've been tearing my hair out trying to find alternatives to my anti depressant and my ant acid. So it's all sorted then... In a few weeks time i can just gulp down a capsule?
Topic: One Month Update
Hi everyone!!! I just wanted to give an update and GET an update..it seems like some have fallen off and not posted in awhile...Im wondering if you are all too busy enjoying your NEW life!!!!
Well I was one month on Monday so I'm a couple of days late. On Monday I had lost about 28.6 lbs total for the month. Today I weighed (yes I weigh everyday I know...its a big no no but I do it) in at 280.6 for a total loss of 30.4 lbs!!!! Woohoo!!! I will be five weeks out on Friday and hope to make it to my first 10% goal of 31 lbs..I know I can do it!!!
Food: everything seems to be going down nicely and I really haven't had any problems. I'm still on soft foods but lately have tried a few things here and there very carefully and all seems well! I think I'm going to run out and check out those SB frozen meals because I am getting BORED!!!
Protein: getting it in on most days with the help of my test tubes and I eat high protein food to get the rest in.
Viatamins: Need to work on this...I am horrible at taking them everyday and I need to get into this habit. I do get my b-12 in however...that habit was developed before surgery.
Liquids: was difficult for the first three weeks but this past week it has gotten much better...I get about 64 oz in a day and would love to get 80 to 100!
Exercise: This is another area I need to improve. Now that I am no longer sore I think I could do this with greater ease. I did start a second job as a waitress and do this 5 days a week. My shifts are about 4 hours and I am on my feet the entire time walk sometimes run...does this count??? As soon as I hit six weeks I am joining a gym and eliptical here I come!!!!
Image: I'm fitting into my clothes better and believe I have went down a complete size!! Woohoo! Of course not where I want to be but it is exciting to see the lbs melting away and to see a thinner me staring back in the mirror.
Okay...better end this now!!! Everyone share please!!

did you try just one bite? maybe you're trying to eat too much too fast. one of the interesting things i've learned in the past few weeks is recognizing the very first feeling of fullness and then stopping. i (we) used to be able to easily push past that and ignore it with no harm done (except for gaining weight). now if i push past it, blehhhh.
eat one bite and see how you feel. if that's ok after a few minutes, eat one more. stop at the first twinge of fullness. even if the fork is already half-way to your mouth with the next bite. i think it's something we have to learn. i won't speak for everyone, but i definitely never recognized the first signs of real hunger and reall fullness before.
i'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and i still have a pretty limited range. don't pu****

Vivan,
I am sorry you are going through this. I hope it is resolved soon.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I eat whatever I want, chicken, turkey, hamburger, pork, just about anything and have had no problems, nothing makes me sick and nothing has gotten stuck.
I eat 4 ounces at a time and I am supposed to eat that six times a day. I usually only eat four times though.
Maybe this is the reason I am losing so slowly. I have lost only 24 pounds so far.
Feel better,
Wanda
Topic: RE: whatcha eating today?
Hi Vivian,
So far...
Breakfast: yogurt and a few cashews
Lunch: chicken fajitas (chicken, grilled onion, grilled bell peppers)
Dinner: chicken fajita leftovers!
I marinated some salmon last night in soy sauce and some asian dressing - that was pretty good. At the deli counter I'll ask for thick slices of low sodium turkey and reduced fat cheese to make a roll-up or two for lunch sometimes. I can't have citrucy fruits yet, but I'll put other kinds in cottage cheese for a sweet dessert type taste.
Eating out is rough. I love Mexican food, so being able to eat fajitas has been a saving grace for me! I don't do well with shrimp, but if I did I'd have fajitas with them too.
Many people say Wendy's chili works for them, but my doc doesn't allow tomatoes until 4 months out. At Taco Bell you might be able to get away with the Pintos and Cheese, if that kind of thing agrees with you.
I'd worry about KFC being too salty, not to mention the breading. Just keep a mental note of what makes you sick, and stay away. Good luck and hope you feel better!
