Hi Jenny! I'm just noticing that your surgery was two days before mine...could it be the time of month for you? Or if you haven't had that for awhile (as was the case for me) I had mine last week out of the blue and a few days before that and all the way through my energy level was rock bottom! Perhaps this is the case...just another thought to go along with all the other good ones...I think the b12 has something to do with it too! Rita

I'm no help as I haven't eaten much interesting yet but I had a protein shake for breakfast, I drink the Isopure creamy vanilla kind, it's the only one I can stand the flavor of and for lunch I had 4 strawberries and an ounce of cheese. I have been super bored with my food options and feel like everything that I can eat I don't like, but in another thread here a Robin posted her version of a cheeseburger and that sounds really yummy to me, even if I can only eat a couple bites I think it will make me feel a little happiness about food again so I am going to make it tonight for dinner.

Robin thanks for posting your version of a cheeseburger, it sounds so simple but I hadn't even thought of doing something like that and it sounds great. I've been bored too with the food I can eat and don't know how to make it interesting, this was helpful.

Protein really helps with energy, so make sure you are getting in enough protein. I think that fluids helps also. I had surgery on the 20th, and I get tired very easy and get nauseated at times as well. I was told it's just from the shock of surgery as well as trying to recover in addition to the protein and fluids issues. So, take it easy on yourself and exercise when you can. I wish I could do more as well right now, but I have to remind myself that my body is just making such a huge adjustment that it will take time. Sherry

I have had the exact same problems but with foods that are softer than chicken - haven't had that yet. Most of the meats and thick foods I have tried have made me throw up, and the nurse told me that my pouch is probably still healing and isn't ready for those yet. Also, moisture seems to be a big factor, so I always have to make sure whatever I am eating is really moist with something sprayed on it, mixed with it or prepared. Also, I still have to puree chili when I eat it since it gets stuck in my throat, so make sure you still do that or take 30 chews of every bite of food. Whenever you vomit, go back to liquids for a day or so to let your pouch recover and then start working in soft foods again. I know how tempting it is to do what others are doing and push the limits, but you have to listen to your body and always take a few hours to rest and then go back on liquids after vomiting. You just have to take it more slowly like me, and since I really went back to basics I feel much better. Try it and see what happens. If you are vomiting up everything, then it could be a stricture, so you'll have to think about what's happenign and determine if you need to see the doctor. Good luck! Sherry

If you are throwing up everything, you might have a stricture. Or it may be that the chicken was just too dry. I mix my chicken with a little light mayonaise, some dill pickle relish, and finely chopped scallion to help it go down easier. Are you chewing until it is the consistency of puree? If not, try chewing longer or actually puree it with some 98% fat free broth. Or are you taking 10 minutes per ounce to eat? I have gotten sick when I eat oo quickly. Also make sure that you haven't had anything to drink at least 15 minutes before you begin eating and then wait at least 30 minutes after you eat before drinking anything. That way you know your stomach is completely empty when you start to eat so there is plenty of room for the food. I hope you figure out what the problem is. It seems like you are miserable, and I am sorry for that! Good Luck, Robin

I've been taking it since I had surgery 5 weeks ago. At first I just opened the capsules and poured the powder onto the back of my tongue and swallowed it with some ater. Now I just take the capsule whole. I haven't had any problems with it at all. I take my calcium in capsule form now too. Good Luck, Robin
