Topic: RE: Itchy Skin! Is this a normal side affect?
I having itching just where the plastic wound shields are going. Anyway if that's all I've got I count myself lucky. but some people have an itchy reaction to the anaesthetic. Although it seems a bit late in the day for that.

Hi David
i will also be 6 weeks out on the 25 of april . You were saying that you are trying differnent protein powders well I found one that is pretty good and I am not a fan of milk or protein . But I found on that is called Body Fortress 100% Premium Whey Protein Powder it cames in 3 flavors I got the vanilla and I mix it with skim milk but I found a milk brand called Mootopia by H.E.B. it has less sugar and 14 gm of protein also so it doesn't leave a film or after taste in your mouth . Hope you can try it if you get a chance . good luck to you
god bless
Cyndi ;-)

That is AWESOME, Chris! I am sooooo happy for you! You are doing amazing! I am about 5 weeks post op too, and really loving my new life and way of dealing with food. This surgery is the best thing an obese person can do for themselves, I think. I'm glad you are so happy! Keep up the good work!

I have not tried the SB frozen meals...although I have a couple of the wraps in the freezer right now. I am just afraid of the wrap itself as I am having trouble with any sort of bread.
BTW...which of the SB meals have so much protein? All the ones I looked at had 18 - 20 gram of protein! Even if I have to split them across two meals...it would be nice to find a couple with loads of protein in them.
I have however started using the South Beach meal replacement bars. I spoke to my Nutritionist (she wanted us to stay under 5g fat and 5g of suger per) and she said they are fine (as long as you don't add anything to it for the meal). So, once a day, I have one of them for a meal. They take me about 25-30 minutes to get down and they really do satisfy me. They run about 200 - 220 calories, 18-20 g of protein and 6-7g of fat.
I am 6 weeks out on Thursday and have dropped 49lbs. But guys tend to drop the lbs a bit quicker than you ladies. I am now trying to get in the 110 to 135g of protein. Not an easy task. I am going to give one of the test tubes a try tomorrow. Should be interesting!
Good luck,
Dave

I'm at five weeks out and I feel great. Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, I took a long walk through downtown. It's kind of yucky today, so I'll have to use our indoor equipment.
I'm down to just under 290 from a high of over 380 last summer. I've lost 40 in the five weeks since surgery. Once I got under that 290 mark, I really intensified my workouts. I'm fitting in clothes I never thought I'd fit in again.
I love the little changes. It's amazing how, as big as we get, society ignores us. I love how people notice me more, whether it be an acknowledgement as we pass in the park or an actual "may I help you?" in a store. I love how when people have to get past me in a narrow hall, they barely have to move over. I don't dread seeing my reflection in a mirror at the mall or in the windows downtown.
I've finally updated my blog in more detail and have added a recent picture. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm fine! Thanks for everyone's support.

I haven't tried the Sout Beach frozen meals. Are they good? How many carbs, sugars, and fat grams do they generally have? I have shied away from those because I thought they would be higher than what I am allowed to eat. I am not supposed to eat anything with more than 3g of sugar or 3g of fat per serving.
Sounds like you are doing great with the weight loss! I am so happy for you!

Gosh - I am sorry that you have had such a rough go of it! I hope you are well on your way to recovery. I know what you mean when you say you ache afterwards - I am sore in every joint and every muscle after each and every workout. But it feels good to have that kind of soreness because I haven't felt it in years from working out. Good luck on this journey - I hope you have huge success!

I am very jealous of you!!!! You are doing great, though. I had lots of complications from surgery and have a hard time exercising. I walk 30 minutes 5 times a week, but I ache afterward!

I can't stand the protein powders either. I can choke down the IDS whey protein "bullets", but I don't like them either. I get quesy for an hour after I drink them! However, I bought some protein bars at the Vitamin Shoppe. They have 32 grams of protein. I usually eat 1/2 of one around 3:00 p.m. and it it gets my protein up. I also eat a lot of chicken (not real exciting, but better than protein shakes.)
I also buy the South Beach Diet frozen meals and eat 1/2 for lunch. The one I had today had 33 grams of protein (so I still got 16 1/2 grams out of it.) I started w/ a BMI of 40, am about 5 weeks out and lost 32 pounds. I am happy with that!!!!
