Topic: RE: Protein Shots 42 G protein in 3 oz.
Hi Kat,
I reccomend the New Whey Liquid Protein Vials in either the 25g per 2.9 oz. or the 42g protein per 2.9oz. If you get the 42g, split them up - do not drink all of it at one time because from what I have heard our bodies cannot abosrb more than 30g protein at once. I get them from this web site
http://www.wholesalesupplementstore.com/new-whey-liquidprotein.html . They are cheaper on this sight than at the Vitamin Shoppe. I use one of the 25g ones per day along with my regular high protein 2 oz. soft meals (3 meals and 1 snack per day). It's working for me - I've lost 28.2 pounds and am 30 days post op. Good luck to you! SOunds like you are losing a lot weight! Congrats!

Hello Robin.
I think you are going to be great with all that you are doing. I am still a work in progress but I do see some change in my behaviors. I started doing Pilates buns and thighs..and it hurts. I am working to a mile of walking a day. I am getting there too. I can not always drink all of the water but I am working on my first 32 oz of diluted Crystal Light this morning already. I am going to follow you with the increase of the protein, water, and exercise. I am trying to be fabulous too.

Topic: 1 month Post Op
Well, I just wanted to post a one month update. I had surgery 1 month ago today. So far I have dumped only once (when I ate a chocolate Calcium Citrate Chew), and thrown up a few times when I ate too fast. I have no problems with food for the most part. I am getting in my 60 grams of protein and my 64oz. of water without any problems. I am taking my mulitvitamins, calcium, and B-12 religiously and am adding a B-complex just to make sure that I am getting enough of all of the B vitamins. I am off of my cholesterol and high blood pressure medication completely already! Yeah!
I am going to increase my protein to about 80g per day soon to make certain that all this weight that I am losing is fat and not lean muscle. I am exercising quite a bit more now than I was before. I am walking about 1 mile a day, doing about 30 minutes of kickboxing everyday, and yesterday I added 30 minutes of the fatburner program on my treadmill that I am going to do everyday. I will add weight lifting when I pass the 6 week post op mark. I am weighing everyday even though at first I said I was going to try not to. I think if I can spot trends in my weightloss, it will be helpful. That way I can increase my exercise, protein, and water if I see my weightloss slowing down. I think that I really am changing my thinking about food already because of my wonderful new tool. I am truly thinking about the nutritional value of everything before I put it in m mouth so that I can fuel my body with good healthy food so it can burn fat as efficiently as possible. All in all, I am very happy with my decision to have surgery, and would do it all over again if I had too. So far I have lost 28.2 pounds and have dropped almost 2 clothing sizes. I am wearing 18's now, but can get my 16's buttoned and zipped (just can't wear them in public yet). So that's my story for now. I hope all of you girls/guys out there are enjoying your new lives as much as I am and that everyone is successful on their weightloss journey! Thanks for all of your support over the past month!
Hugs,
Robin
Topic: RE: New to board and hit a plateau
Rita,
Sounds like you are doing great! Are you eating 'real' protein yet and how many grams are you trying to get in? And how much water?
i am about a week behind you and I am fighting days with a bouncing scale. I am now 3 weeks out and wonder if it would help to just get to more solid protein with less carbs. I am taking in about 80 grams of protein and 70 to 80 of water and walking about a mile every day at lunch.
thanks!

Hi Lori,
My LAP RNY was 3/27 and I have lost 23lbs as of last Tuesday. I only weigh myself once a week (every Tuesday) because I know I will just get frustrated if I do it every day. Just remember if you aren't losing pounds you may be losing inches. Did you measure yourself prior to surgery? I plan on measuring once a month on my surgiversary. I'm kinda glad I'm not losing quickly and my body takes these rest breaks cause it gives the skin a chance to catch up. I hope to not have too much flapping about.
Make sure you are getting most or all of your protein and calories in. Remember, NOT eating enough can cause a stall too. Fluid intake is also very important. Remember that fat is water soluable and we need to keep hydrated.
Best of Luck,
DeeD

This is the website I ordered mine from but I heard you can also get them from GNC.
They are called New Whey Protein Bullets and come in 3 flavors and 2 sizes. They are a clear liquid version of a protein drink. No mixing powders. I just put mine in my water bottle and sip on it throughout the day. If you get the 42g don't drink the whole thing at once because the body can only absorb 20 - 30 grams of protein per hour so you would be wasting some. If you want to do them like shots, then drink half in the morning and the rest in the afternoon.
The bubbling you described is called "Foamies". It is a natural process after WLS when something doesn't go down correctly, is too dry or too big. It's a safety measure for us so be happy if it happens. I sure wouldn't want something getting stuck! I was told to cut everything up to the size of an eraser head and chew at least 25 times until it is very mushy. You can also have a side of LF or FF gravy or sauce on the side for dipping to keep everything moist.
I've made SF pudding too and added unflavored unjury to it. My favorite puddings are Cheese Cake and White Chocolate. I add the protein to the 1st cup of NF milk and mix that well first and then add the 2nd cup of milk and the pudding mix. Once it starts to set and is mixed really well I pour it into 4oz individual containers made by Glad. I found them at Smiths and Wal-Mart. It makes 4 servings.
The unflavored unjury works well in SF jello, home-made popsicles, soups, yogurts and anything else that it can dissolve in. Each packet is 20g protein.
Best of luck!

DeeD -
Hi I had my surgery last month on the 9th so I'm just a bit further on than you guys - I have a question though....
What kind of 42 gm protein "bullet" are you taking????
I haven't found anything like that to try???? I'd really like to
know since I'm having problems getting all my protein in during the day. I have also found if I eat too quickly (or get too hungry then I tend to eat more quickly) I have a lump sitting mid way down my throat then when I try to (excuse me) Burp... everything bubbles up and I spew what ever I just ate.
It really isn't like throwing up though cause it's mostly liquids and bubbles. When this happens I go back to liquids - camimille teas are the best for upsets... If I can't get my protein in anyother way I'll put a 1/4 cup of protein powder in SF Instant pudding (make it like regular pudding & just add the protein flavor to match) that's usually my breakfast causes early mornings are not my time of the day for trying new things.
