Topic: OMG!! I'M OVERWEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually have tears in my eyes. I weigh myself on Fridays and this morning I've lost 82 pounds. I did the BMI calculator and my BMI is 29.9 which makes me officially OVERWEIGHT! I started out with a morbidly obese BMI of 43.6. Just the term "morbidly obese" freaked my brain back then. Dead woman walking or what?! I am so grateful every day I could have this surgery. Kristy, I'm so glad I read your post tonight. I have been at a standstill for a couple of weeks, also. I, too, thought that this was it. I'm glad you broke your plateau. Maybe mine will break soon Keep up the good work. Judy

Yeaaaaa, I am so happy, I haven't lost (or gained) a single pound in 41/2 weeks and was getting rather depressed. I thought that this was it for me. Stuck at 70 pounds down. Don't get me wrong I am very happy with 70 pounds but was hoping to get down 100. So anyway, I stopped stepping on the scale 1 1/2 weeks ago. Today everyone kept saying how good I looked and asking if I had lost anymore weight. I felt compelled to step on the almighty scale (the mood breaker or maker) and sure enough, I was down 5 pounds!!!!!! that is 75 pounds now!!!!! All I did was increase my protein and water and thats all it took. I have had a pretty rough week so this was perfect timing. I hope everyone else is doing well. Everyone have a great weekend. Kristy

Heather, I use protein bars as a meal replacement. I buy the low carb ones. They are about 210 calories and 10 grams of fat. I was told to stick within 12 g.of fat and 3g of sugar. I use them at work when I can't eat a meal. I am also in a stall for 2 weeks. I am taking physical theropy to strengthen my leg muscles so it will be interesting to see what the scale does this week. Hang in there. See you lighter. Joanne

This was the plateau buster diet someone gave me. i am down 80 lbs - just hanging here the last couple of weeks so i know where you are coming from. I dont do protein bars = i am like you - they look like they have alot of calories. Id rather eat a piece of chicken. watch your sodium intake - it can get surprisingly high quickly. good luck Mari How to break a plateau #1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau #2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day #3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day (some suggest at least 60 and up to 80 gr) #4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day beef pork chicken turkey lamb fish eggs low fat cheese cottage cheese plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?) peanut butter beans/legumes You may also have: sugar free popsicles tea or coffee sugar free soda sugar free jello broths/bullion (sp?) crystal light drinks #5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!! #6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily

I have heard on here that there is a plateau buster diet. It is basically very lo carb. I have had a couple of stalls and it works for me. Also, upping your activity level by 10 minutes or so helps me. Ask on the Main board about the diet, someone will post it for ya!! Good Luck!! Toodles, Reneé 418/316/125 -102lbs!!

I know that everyone looses weight at a different rate, but I have now gone three weeks without the scale moving one bit. I have tried every trick I know. Eat more protein, eat more, drink more, eat less. All with no results. I know I should not be depressed since I have lost 89 pounds since surgery 4/11, but it is hard not to. Any suggestions/tips? I have never tried any protein bars or protein shakes. Do you think I should? All the protein bars I looked at have alot of fat in them, how much fat are we supposed to stay under?
