Topic: My One year birthday
One year ago today I was having my surgery. I wish I was closer to goal. I have accomplished and learned so much about my body this year. I am a healthier person because of it all. My doc told me to have the surgery or die. And now I know I am going to live to see my granddaughter grow up and I love playing and chasing her around...she is 4. She is the main reason I did this and I am so glad I did. I started out at 317 I now weigh 220 and I have stopped losing weight but I am still losing inches. I guess that is all the exercise. I have gone from a size 30-32 to a 18-20. But what is most important is that I no longer have 1 diabeties 2 gerd 3 sleep apnea 4 incontinance 5 high blood pressure 6 kidney failure(from diabeties) ****er retention(from kidneys from diabeties) I want to thank everyone on this board. I am mainly a lurker but the advice from the grads has been so important. Even when you are encouraging someone else I used that encouragement as my own to get through. And to know I was not in this alone. Here's to what the next year brings

Topic: Something to think about
Hey all, I was really sad about only losing 8 pounds from Dec-March especially since I was following my dr.'s directions. I had my one year follow up on 4/4 and told him how disappointed I was. He told me he was going to do some blood work and see what was going on. The lab work came back that my pcos was still there. He put me back on metformin(glucophage) on 4/6 and also had me see the nutritionist who told me I wasn't eating enough(I asked could I get that in writing). I upped my calories by 100-200 cals. per day so far I have dropped 14 pounds. I guess the point of my story is to talk to your doctor and nutrionist if you feel like you're working hard and getting no results. Hugs, Teresa

First of all congrats on the weight loss! Keep in mind that our bodies and our minds have been through a radical change over the last 12 months. It will take time to for your mind to catch up with your body! One thing that has helped me is taking pictures and comparing them from time to time. Also, imagine your self picking up 200 pounds (chances are you can't) but yet you used to drag all of that around with you everywhere you went. You have done an amazing thing by giving this gift to yourself and you've done an amazing job! Be proud of what you've done and how far you've come!! Hugs, Teresa

I've lost 154 since surgery. However, I lost 47 prior to surgery due to my BMI being too high so that brings my total to 201!! Teresa Congratulations to us all!!! We've had an amazing year!!!!

I had my surgery 4/11/05 and have lost 151 pounds. I have exceded mine and my surgeons goal. The last pounds always move the slowest. Remember hind sight is 20/20 and you can't change the past, look ahead of you and not behind. Heather 291-140(-151)

Hello to all! I had my surgery on 4/27/05 and according to my "early morning weight", I am down 137 lbs. I am thankful for this much since I was on iv feedings for about 2 months, so I got a slow start on the weight loss. Everyone keep up the good work!!!

Congrats to all of you on your weight loss so far. I had my surgery on April 27th, and I am down a total of 182 lbs as of this morning. I started out really high, so I think that is why my weight loss is where it is. Hope all is going well, and everyone is happy and healthier. Anita B 420/238/220 soon
