Topic: RE: Help with insurance!! United Healthcare
I too had United Healthcare for my surgery and they were great! I was approved in two days for my RNY and they paid it ALL! That may be why. Most insurance companies will NOT cover the Lap Band procedure but they WILL cover the RNY. You may want to check this out in your policy handbook. The Lap Band is fairly newer and doesn't have the greatest chance for the weight staying off as the RNY does. It also requires more doctors visits for fills and unfills, which means more money for the insurance company. Good luck in your search! amber 296/161/140 -135

Hey Kiddo, LAX-again, you are doing just fine... Your body's internal thermostat is just readjusting. Take the pressure off of yourself and look just how far you have come. Enjoy the journey. After nine years PostOp, it is sometimes hard to remember the journey itself. Lastly know that your struggles are actually a blessing to many of us who take our recovery for granted. You pain helps me remember WHY i make good food decisions. You are doing just fine sweets, nobody has a stopwatch and a scale ready to judge you. PUH-lease let me know if there is ever ANYTHING I can do to help or encourage you. Blessings, Craig T 9 years PostOp www.renewedreflections.com Open RNY - 2 TT's

Topic: RE: OK April Losers how much have you lost???
Down 75 lbs. since surgery. Excited but a little disappointed seeing all the other great big losses. I have stayed the same for one month now, hoping weight loss will kick back on. Exercising regularly but eating more also. Congratulations to everyone on their phenomenal successes! Did you ever think you'd be where you are today!! Ann W. 253/178/135

Hi Alice, You're not alone. I have been at the same weight for one month now. I have increased my exercise but my appetite has also increased quite a bit lately. I'm afraid I'm going back into old habits as I have no restrictions on what types of food I can eat. I know what I have to do but it is so hard to make myself do this. I'm going to give it my best shot. Good luck to you. Ann 253/178/135

Topic: RE: Who had a WOW moment(s) this week?
I haven't posted here in a while, but I had a wow moment last week. I went to pick up my son from school and the receptionist asked me who I was. I've known her for years, but haven't seen her in a while. When I told her it was me her reply was "I know Reese's mom and you are not her." I had to go out to the car and get my ID so she would let me have my son!

As with most insurances if you call in they will tell you that the surgery is not covered. Once your dr submits his findings and a letter though, most insurances will agree to the surgery. I had united healthcare, and I had too called them and they said it wasnt covered, but within 1 month of my surgeon submitting the letter i got word from my surgeon that i was approved. from my initial meeting with the surgeon to surgery in less than 2 months. just follow everything your dr says, and ill keep my fingers crossed for you.
