Topic: Its this how it is now?
Now that I am no longer a beginner does this mean I have to struggle with my weight. I go up and down and stand at the same weight for along period of time. Does anyone else go through this?I have been between 165-170lbs for the past couple of weeks. My goal is to be 140-150 lbs. I am back at the gym on a regulkar basis and if I can make it I do my walk.. Topic: RE: OK April Losers how much have you lost???
Wow -- I haven't checked this board in a while. How fabulously everyone has done! Before my surgery I had lost 58 lbs - from 329 to 271. Since the surgery on April 21 I have lost another 79 -- from 271 to 192. So that is a total of 137. Have hit many plateaus, but I'm getting there -- wherever "there" is -- slowly but surely. Topic: GAINED 9 pounds in 5 days!!??!!??!!
I have returned from another trip to New Orleans. You can read about it on my other site at: geocities.com/nola_rescue Somehow, from Wednesday, January 11th to Sunday, January 15th, I GAINED 9 pounds!!!! I don't know how it could be possible. Yes, I ate some things and drank some things I shouldn't have when I was in New Orleans. BUT - I still stayed to my 1/2 cup of food per meal rule, and I don't see how in the world I could have GAINED 9 pounds in 5 days! Water retention maybe? If anyone has any thoughts on how I could have gained 9 pounds in 5 days, by eating 1/2 cup of food per meal, I'd love to hear from you. My surgery was April 6th, and as of January 7th I was down 120 pounds. My starting weight was 310 and on 1/7 I was 190. I got on the scale on 1/11 the morning I left for New Orleans and I was still 190. I got on the scale when I returned home on 1/15 and figured with all the running around I did down there, I would be at about 185. WRONG!!!!!!!! The scale read 199!!!!!! I must have gotten on and off that scale a dozen times. I couldn't believe it. Absolutely couldn't believe it. GAINED 9 pounds in 5 days???? HOW is that possible? Dayna 310/199--UGH!!!!-/120

Good Morning all, Well...I've finally hit the 100 pound loss mark, I am a little stunned at this point, because it felt like I would never get here - I now need to find out how to get a century club card - so if anyone can give me this information I would greatly appreciate it. 245/145/135-130

Hi All, I tried to go back on the liquids today cause I've gotten off track but my resolve was not there. Oh well--there is always tomorrow. I did join a Gym today. I was walking pretty good till the beginning of Dec. but then it got really cold and Christmas and all and you know how it is. I can find a MILLION reasons not to exercise. Well I did a mile on a treadmill and thought I was gonna die!!! It doesnt take long to get out of shape. I heard a physician talking about the benefits of exercise and how the problem is not getting started --it's staying started! Boy- how true that is. Well I'm glad I've got you guys to bounce these things off of. I know you understand. Thanks again just for being there. Talk to ya soon Jackie

Topic: RE: Who had a WOW moment(s) this week?
I had to take my son to see our PCP (who was behind me 1000% for this surgery, but has only known me for the last 6 years -- fat years) and my PCP did a double-take at me and said "Oh my gosh, you are getting so skinny! You are so petite!" Coming from a sweet, wonderful, caring (and I have to admit, fairly good-looking), young doctor, WOW is all I could think. He has been so wonderful throughout, never second-guessing my needs for bloodwork and always complimenting me on my loss, but he hasn't seen me in a little over a month, so this was great! --joanna 325/175/125(someday, I hope!)

Hi all, I weighed in last week at 173 and this week I have stayed the same. It has been a rough week with eating. Dr. put me on this medication and I swear all I can think about is food. When I do eat though I have been trying to keep it high protein, low carb. I think that is the only reason I have kept the 4 lbs. from last week that I lost off. Can't wait to see what this week brings. Good Luck to all of you this week. Tara surgery 289/173/150

Hey there! It sounds like everyone is doing SO well! I'm really proud of you all! If you've lost 20lbs or 200, you're doing better than you were before surgery! I haven't lost anything since I met my 2005 weight loss goal, but I haven't gained either, so I can't complain! Highest weight: approx 400 Surgery Day weight: 388 Current weight: 265 Goal weight: 185-200lbs Total Lost Since surgery: 123lbs!!! Left: 65-80lbs My goal was 266 (my lowest adult weight EVER) by New Years, and I did it! My next goal is 238 by April for my 1yr surgiversary. It's kinda lofty, but I'm going to try my best!!! That's another 27lbs in 3 months! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!! MUCH LOVE! Michelle Lap RNY 4/18/05 Dr. David Ward

Topic: Who had a WOW moment(s) this week?
Good Morning Everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and have a fantastic week ahead of you. Tracy and I went to the Austin dinner this weekend and had a wonderful time. My WOW moment(s) this week were: 1.) Going to a support group meeting and seeing "Go To Man" When I asked him how he was doing his response was not as good as you look. 2.) When we were in Austin at the club this guy walked up to me and told me I was flamboyant. So, what were your WOW moment(s) this week? Pre-op's, Post-op's, and on-op's we love to hear from you. Let us celebrate your victory's with you.

WOW! Everyone is doing great here! I am down 150 lbs as of this morning. I have between 35-50 lbs to go, so not doing too bad here, either! I have set 2 goals for my weight, though, my "realistic" goal of 140lbs (the highest weight I could be and still have a "normal" BMI) and my "ultimate" goal of 125lbs (the weight where I looked best when I was small before, which also happens to be dead center for BMI normalcy for my height). Like everyone else, my weight loss has slowed to a crawl, but I remind myself this isn't a sprint, it is a marathon, I still realistically have another 15-51 months to lose, according to all the facts and figures gleaned from my many years of researching WLS. As for me, I admit to not getting enough protein in for the last month (hubby was laid off and protein is EXPENSIVE!!) but I have recently ordered some new protein and I plan on upping it to a ridiculous amount to restart my loss. Great job, everyone!! --joanna 325/175/125(someday, I hope!!)
