Topic: RE: question about carbs/protein/calories
Hi Tara! I've been having a problem with that too lately. I think my weight loss is slowing because I'm not getting in enough calories. I try to get in at least 60 grams of protein. I've been trying really hard for several weeks now and am managing to get in around 80-90 grams of protein. Like you say though, I'm just not hungry with all the protein. I've been eating hard candies this week just for some extra calories. I'm trying to get up and over 1000 calories per day but it just doesn't ever happen. The highest I've gotten in this past week was 916. I really think my body is in starvation mode and hanging on to what it's got and getting. I always try to keep my carbs less than my proteins. I don't have a certain number for them, just to keep my protein higher. Amber 296/170/140 -126 pounds!

Topic: question about carbs/protein/calories
I am asking this same question of my Dr.'s office tomorrow but asking you all today. How many carbs/protein/calories do you all intend to have each day and how closely are you able to reach that goal? This challenge has been great for me in that I have lost the 2lbs from the holidays and gotten past my lowest of 175. But am I getting enough of each category in. It is so hard to eat when I get so much protein in because I don't feel hungry and I feel overly full all the time. Just looking for opinions. Thanks all, Tara surgery 4/18/05 289/171/150

Hi Everyone, Well, I weighed in today and I'm down 2.6 pounds!!! I'm ecstatic cause I'm a S-L-O-O-O-W loser too. I weighed in today cause I'm going to a STEELER football party today and I know I wont be able to stay on liquids. My daughter is making me things that I can eat in week 2 so I should be okay just a day early. I feel like you do Helen, it's been so long since I lost any weight that it feels wonderful! I also think having the support has helped me stay focused. It's so easy for me to just give in and then give up. Talk to you guys tomorrow. Week 1 start 219.6 -- end 217.0 loss of 2.6 GO STEELERS! Jackie

Helen, It is so nice to get up and someone has actually posted!!! Wahoo!!! A lb. off is a lb gone. Make sure you are getting in enough calories or your body will go into starvation mode and hold weight. I aim for 1000- 1200 a day. I know it is hard to beleave that if you eat more you will lose more but it is true. Confuse the body by eating more or less each day instead of the same calories. Do you mix your shake with milk? If not your calories have to be low. I mix my shake with F/F milk and add F/F milk to my cream soup too. It gives you added calories and protein. This is what I ate yesterday. 4c. of decafe coffee,3c of decafe green tea. Breakfast: Protein Shake. Snack: V-8. Lunch : Protein Shake. Snack: V-8. Dinner: Cream of mushroom soup. Snack: yogurt for a totol of: 1050 calories, 80g. of protein and 104 oz of water. My tea and coffee count as water because they are decafe. I use 12oz. mugs. Can't wait to hear results tomorrow. Only a few people are posting so I don't know how all is doing yet. Hopefully all will post tomorrow with weight loss or results for the week. Good luck and always remember you are not alone in this battle. See you lighter. Joanne

Topic: RE: AM I THE ONLY 1 WHO STILL HAS NO HUNGER AT ALL?
Julie, I had my surgery on the 25th of April and I am never ever hungry. I have never felt the "hunger" feeling since surgery and am glad for it! I can't eat much food either, 1 hard boiled egg and half a string cheese for lunch makes me very full. I guess it just depends on the person.... Kati 252/147/135-140ish (5'5")

Topic: RE: Challenge Roll Call for Saturday
Joanne, You might be right. I just went back and totaled all my calories etc. Here is what I came up with Day 1 Carb 17, Protein 101, Calories 968 Day 2 Carb 11, Protein 93.5, Calories 935 Day 3 (same as day2) Day 4 Carbs 16, Protein 63, Calories 540 Day5 (fell in the morning. I was sleeping most of the day so the totals are lower for protein and calories on this day) Carbs 29.4, Protein 42.6, Calories 399 Day 6 haven't done totals for today I had noticed that the more protein and less carbs I ate the less hungry I was. I guess I not only need to watch what I eat but make sure I eat enough. WOW what a problem to have, I can do this though so don't worry. I am going to take my food logs with me to the Dr. and see if that is what made me pass out. I will let you know what he says. Take care, Tara surgery 4/18/05 289/171/150

Tara, Please check with your Dr. and let me know what he says. As bad as we want to lose weight we still want to do it the healthy way. What was your calorie and protein intake? Please keep track of that. I am aiming for 1000 calories a day and not over 1200. See you lighter. Joanne

Helen, Nobody said it would be easy. I think each on of us has messed up a little. I did last night myself but am back on track today. One more day to go!!!! WhaHoo!!!! Can't wait to see results !! Hey they say the truth will set you free. I think it helps to be honest for we all truely understand. We have been there and done that. Nothing you can say will shock us. Remember you are not alone here. We all have the same struggles. I went to a Cookie Kick Off for girl scouts today and brought one of each cookie home to my husband. I didn't even eat one and that was hard. Good luck tomorrow. See you lighter. Joanne
