I got a date!!!!!

Hey guys, I have never been on this site before but I hear it is a really good site for support. I got my surgery date for June 29, 2004, earlier if a date opens up. If anyone has anything to help me prepare please let me know. I only know one person who has had this surgery and it was a year ago, so she can't really help with the pre-op stuff and really doesn't remember the post- op stuff either. Thanks, Lindsay

Lindsay--all the best to you. I'm in the same boat as you--I go in June 1st for pre-op tests and the surgery is June 10th. My daughter had the same surgery and surgeon on 12/8/03 and has lost about 70lbs to date--she looks great and feels great. My office has 18 employees--one had a stomach staple 2 months ago, I go in June and another co-worker has the same surgery I will scheduled at a different center on 8/5/04--we will soon have our own support group going!! Lindsay, I have a date of June 29th too! I live in Richmond VA. I will keep you in mind as I prepare for my surgery. I have one day on the 14th that is all the preop tests, bloodwork, EKG, chest xray, and then my nutrition class, and I meet with the nurse practitioner that day too. My mom had this surgery in October 2003 and she said, all the preop stuff was a piece of cake, about the same as any major surgery. The post op will just depend on what your surgeon has you do. Will you be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks or are you going home on soft foods? This is something your surgeon decides for you. Good luck and I know we will be fine! Sandy in Midlothian, VA
