I wanted to say that my surgery went great, they didn't have to give me oxygen mask during surgery. My cheeks were tan & rosy after surgery. Only felt nausea, "hunger" pains and bloating. I thought it was going to be worse. Now I'm trying to get nutrition in, just feel too bloated all the time, but I have done alot of walking & drinking water---and yes I am doing the liquid diet with protein shakes until a week after surgery.

Congrats!!! I think the bloating is from the anesthesia and a test for leaks that the doctor does. From what I understand it goes away. The "hunger" pains scare me a bit. I'm going in tomorrow and I haven't been allowed anything but clear liquids since yesterday - and I am HUNGRY!!! I don't want to be hungry when the surgery is over. Again...congrats Kate

Thanks for the well wishes. I did the clear liquids before surgery, it's awful especially the day of surgery. I was lucky that my liver wasn't swollen and my doctor was able to do laprascopic. What I meant by hunger pains is how I compared the feeling. My stomach would contract a little (it felt like a baby kicking). I knew I wasn't hungry (remember, they give you dextrose in iv to sustain you). I wasn't given food until 24hrs after surgery, and that was broth, gelatin, apple juice & some kind of diluted jello. Well I wish you well, on your surgery date and I pray that everything goes smoothly. I'm sure you'll not feeling a thing when they're in surgery, and nausea is common after surgery. Best wishes, Claudia

Claudia, I'm so glad to hear that your surgery went so well! Welcome to LoSeR LaNd!! You are doing the best thing that you can for the bloating...walking. It takes a couple of weeks for it to go down...then WATCH OUT...that scale will just drop and drop and drop!! take care, Pam
