Topic: RE: my date is july 8th and im scared stupid
I was scared too, but I had the support from my family and friends. You can lose the 5 lbs., I would go on a liquid diet from today until your clean out date. I know it sounds hard but it will work. I lost 25 lbs. in just 3 weeks, I drank Slim Fast low carb shakes, and sugar free jello and sugar free popcicles (can't spell), my surgery was 12-06-07 (7 months ago) and I have lost 104 lbs., you can go to myspace.com/tamsexybutterfly to see my pics. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Amy,
Eeeek we leave a week from today. Walking shoes, I hadn't thought of that, thanks. My slippers really don't cut it. I packed a couple of books and my mp3 player. Those and sleeping will probably fill my time. I'm taking my laptop, if nothing else but to record my journey. Check, pillows and CPAP. lol on smpler pack of chapstick. I use Vicks vaporub on my lips, weird I know, but it works. I had my hair cut and permed last week so I don't have to deal with my hair in the hospital, I know I won't care.
We're staying a few extra days near the hospital (we live 3 hours away) so here's my list:
water
protein powder
hair brush
toothbrush etc
slippers
walking shoes (thanks!)
jammies
comfy pants
large t-shirt
baby wipes
vicks for lips
maxi pads, blood thinners can cause menstrual bleeding
pillows
vitamins
sansa
laptop
cpap
Let me know how your friend does. It will be fun to compare notes.

Topic: July 8th Surgery
I'm doing well with the liquid diet although I've had a few cheats along the way. Sweets no longer appeal to me but what does is chicken, fruit and potatoes.
Tomorrow is my last day to work this week so that should make it easier to do the liquid diet. At home I read a lot or watch movies. I also caught up on sewing projects and cleaned a lot last weekend. This weekend I plan to do some more cleaning but may not have the energy.
Topic: RE: Pre-op diet impossible
I'm starting my 2nd week on the liquid diet. It is difficult. I cheated and had a couple boiled eggs without the yolks and tomato soup. My diet is supposed to be only protein drinks and water, no popsicles, Jello, etc.
I get so hungry but another shake won't satisfy that so maybe it's not real hunger. Lots of headaches with this, but it's only 2 weeks. Think about the future and all the health improvements you will have plus looking better.
Good luck!!

well, like my doc said, "if you cheat, cheat with meat" and I've kinda gone by that. Every once in a while I'll get a craving, but i pop in a protien shake and that's over in a jiffy. Are you keeping up?
Topic: RE: Pre-op diet impossible
I hope your surgery goes through as planned. You sound totally stressed out. I'm wondering if your surgery is today (July 1st) or tomorrow. Did you lose some of the weight? They didn't give me an amount to lose, just to stay on this diet.
Good luck!
