So you wouldn't think I'm the biggest slacker on here by looking at my health trackers.......BUT I AM! I never exercise, LIVE off Dt. Mt. Dew again, I've been eating way to large portions as of late and hitting the vending machines at work far to often!.....I have been sick with strep all week and needed to be! I've lost 13 lbs from not being able to eat or drink anything for so many days and have found my pouch has shrunk back down to size! I would have actually gained wieght this month if not for getting sick! I have been losing 8-10 lbs a month consistantly and must have thought I was invincible......That is all changing! I turn 35 tomorrow and I've decided to live like I'm 25 from now on! I can fit into my 13 year old daughters clothes now......hollister size 9's and M shirts.....now that's tiny! Everyone is doing so well and I'm more proud of others success than I am of my own......I worry about being able to keep my weight off since I havn't had to put in as much hard work as so many others.....I haven't made the lifestyle changes many of you have.....they will haunt me if I don't do it soon!

Topic: Weekend Challenge anyone?
I was was going to ask if anyone wants to participate in a weekend challenge to post an updated picture of where you are at right now by Monday. We could compare them with our "before" picture.
I thought it would be inspirational to see how far we have come in 8 months.
I never would have dreamt I would lose so much weight in less than a year. I still have a long way to go, but I never would have made this much progress on my own.
Here is wishing all us "Julyers" a great weekend.
Don't forget to turn your clocks back an hour Saturday night. Spring is on it's way!
(Maybe it would be fun to post pictures every now and then, or once a month with a different theme) Such as:
1. A picture doing an activity you couldn't do before surgery. (Being silly is appropriate)
2. Your worst/favorite "fat" clothes picture wearing your old, big clothes.
3. You with your pet, kids, or friends and/or family.
4. A place you go now that you've lost weight and can enjoy more now that you have.
5. You doing your favorite hobby, etc...
6. A picture of you somewhere that shows off your state, town, favorite park, etc..
What do you think? We need to stay together for support. This journey's not over until we're dead. I'm planning on sticking around for awhile. We have a lot of lost time to make up for.
Here's wishing you a fantastic "time change" weekend!
HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

Don't be so hard on yourself. You have lost 70 lbs! That is amazing. Like me you were considered a "Light Weight" and that means our weight loss is slower than the others. It is hard not to compare to everyone but I have stopped doing that because it just makes me depressed and feel like I have failed. I try to look at the girls that started out around my weight. And then I compare myself and progress to them. We are all neck and neck so I know I am doing OK.
Try this 5 day pouch test. I am on day 3 now. I lost the 6 lbs I had regained at Disney and lost an extra pound so far. :) I am not feeling hungry and I am happy because I know that the pouch is still working.
You have to ask yourself if you could have lost 70 lbs before this surgery in the short amount of time you have lost it in? I know I couldn't have! I would have lost about 20 then hit my first plateau and fallen off the wagon and gone back to eating non stop.
I know it's hard. But try the pouch test. and I bet you will be reassured you're surgery is working for you.
XOXO Val

Topic: RE: Weird Week
I tell anyone who asks. I ran into someone from high school the other day who wouldn't ordinarily have given me a sideways glance. We weren't friends. She came over all gushy about my weight loss wanting to know what I was doing. Darn right I told her. One - I'm not ashamed of doing it and I want people to know that there is no shame in it. Now she can go gossip to whomever and I don't care. If I didn't just tell them and they found out later they would think I was ashamed and trying to hide it. Two - I didn't do it to lose weight, I did it to get rid of the 15 meds a day I was taking. I make sure I tell them that too. I also tell them that it was the best thing I ever did for myself. If I really want to get up on the soapbox I tell them that it is a tool that requires a lot of work. 1000 calories a day. regular exercise. People fail at it like anything else.
You just don't get a "magic" surgery and weight just falls off until you are the perfect size.
I think there are a lot of people who desperately need WLS who won't have it because of what other people will think of them. THe more people who are open about it and own it - even if it's not anyone's business - the better it will be down the road for the next person. That's just my thinking.

Since surgery I've been miss two, have one, miss two, have one. I just figured it had something to do with the dramatic weight loss and a little anemia. But this month I got two in a row. My weight loss has slowed down a lot these last two months too. What this means I don't know. I was hoping it would go away and stay away.

I know how you feel JDR. I am feeling like I need to go ona liquid diet to reach my goal wieght because I am so afraid of regain that I have this overwhelming fear of not reaching my goal and getting fat again. I ahd this durgery so I could eat like a thin, normal person and I'm bummed that I have to be on a diet to get there. And, yes, I do recognize how ridiculous I sound! *smacks the side of head*
I am VERY greatful for my RNY! I would never have had the wireght lose I've had up til now without it!
