Hey Bonnie....I had Lap on 8/28 and my wounds are still sore....I finally just took off my guaze tape (that is suppose to FALL OFF)...well i removed it last nite cause it was all irritating me so bad...and today was better....although my belly button and the one to the right still have "crusties" and I have to clean them daily....but they are they most sore of course clothing its both of em so....I figure that is why. Surely your wound care will help.... I think I have a yeast infection from the cathedar and antibiotics they gave me in the hospital....ouch! and HICCUPS oh my gosh they are driving me insane........I have them all evening every nite...STRANGe.

I found a protein godsent -- it is from www.smartforme.com and comes in either mango peach (which I prefer) raspberry or greentea. 15 G of protein in each mix and you only add 6 oz. of water.

Topic: Im back!
Well I had my surgery on August 21st with no complications. I was in at 1pm and out by 3:30. I was up and walking at midnight and then a bunch of times after that. I went to Maine on vacation 5 days after surgery, felt great. I came home for my appt on day 9 and was moved to phase 3 for eating where I could have protein, chicken, fish, stuff like that, I even had lobster, granted it was like 1/2 a claw LOL. I am doing well, I have already lost 28 lbs and look forward to losing more. What a great place this site is, I am so happy to be back!

I'm 3 weeks post-op tomorrow and didn't have any wound infections, but my father certainly did. He had his laproscopic surgery 8/8 and on 8/27 he was admitted to the hospital for the 2nd time after surgery (1st was due to congestive heart failure after they took him off his prescription of Lasiks). The doctor said that the infection had probably been there for nearly 3 weeks, and that it was the worst of its kind that he had ever seen. Dad didn't run a fever. The site (at the drain) was just really inflamed (like a mild sunburn) and hot and hard to the touch. If the site is warm and hard then definitely call your doctor. My father was in the hospital for 8 nights just for the infection. Now he's home but the only antibiotic that works is IV form so a nurse has to come by every day. That and they don't close the wound once they've opened it for drainage. So he has to deal with a 6 inch open wound that has to be packed twice a day (by an in home nurse). Not intending to scare you, but just don't let the infection last too long before you get it checked if you're indeed concerned.

Pam, Congrats to you on being 8 days post op as I am 7 days post op and down 11.5 lbs. YES! It seems you & I are going through some simular things like, can't finish more then 32 oz of water. My DR office said we need 48 -64 oz of fluids a day. This includes the sf pops, jelly, protein shakes, etc... It sounds like your doing well and when in dought, I'm sure you can call your DR office and speak to a staff member for clarification. I'm eating 1 to 2x a day in 1 oz cups; creamy soups, pureed potatoe w/fat free cheese, pureed tuna w/light mayo, eggs, fat free/light yogert, sf pudding, cottage cheese, etc... I also am hooked on Hank's Finest Protein Mikeshakes w/22 gr of Protein and they taste like chocolate milkshakes, yummy at least 2x a day. I take my chewable vits w/iron, biotin so I don't lose too much hair, b-12 and calcium. Everything is all approved by my DR and nutlst. I thank GOD and my hubby for seeing me through this journey! I wish you and all *****ad this post all my best! Carrie

Hi Bonnie, Sorry about the infection. I don't know if I have one or not but one really does hurt a lot. If it hasn't improved by morning I think I will head over to the office. Hugs and feel better, Traci

I think I have one too. I'll see my DR. Tomorrow, I am 2 weeks out and the wound seems to not have healed, I have a lot of thick yellow discharge. The nurse told me it my be lymph cells replacing the missing organ (gall bladder)

This really is amazing! We are all first week post ops and it sounds like we all have different diets! I am on clear liquids. I have been living on water, crystal light, sugar and caffeine free iced tea and clear s/f gelatin. The dietician that came into my room the hour before I was discharged gave me instructions to only eat these things. No calories, nothing that even resembles something you might chew. It will be one week for me on Thursday, and from what I understand, I can then add protein drinks and s/f jello pudding, watery oatmeal, cream of wheat. I have a case of the Achieve One mocha java protein drinks that have been in my fridge for 2 months, and I can't WAIT to crack one of them open in a few days and start getting this body some NUTRITION!!! I am starving to feed myself something that will build me back up again, I have no energy level at all. The dietician said that my body (bmi of 39 before surgery) could survive for 2 weeks on water alone. I am living off my fat, how good does that sound? yummy..... Well, love to all of us AUGUST BABIES.... Michelle from NJ

Topic: Any stiff necks out there?
Hello Friends~ I am 5 days post op and feeling great, except this stiff neck. I called the surgeon and he said it's from the "un natural" way they have you on the operating room table. They must just let your neck "hang" while they are doing surgery... so it's like dead weight. And they do tilt your body quite a few times, to a more vertical position, so then the other 215 pounds of my body just yanked down on my neck for a few hours. I went to the chiropractor this morning and it helped. I am icing it, but it keeps stiffening up. How are my other August 31 sisters doing? Michelle, NJ
