Topic: RE: Anyone else have a wound infection?
Hi Bonnie:
Sorry to hear that you are having those complications. I had RNY - Laporoscopically and I did NOT have any infections at all. Did you have open or lap surgery? Sometimes the open has a tendency to get infected more so than the lap. Anyway, sorry to hear about your trials, but I know that you will do just great after all this is over! Good luck on your journey!

Topic: Anyone else have a wound infection?
I am three weeks out tomorrow and got an infection in one of my wounds. I am wondering if that happened to anyone else and how they are healing. I feel great and have lost 30lbs but the wound still hurts and I don't look forward to the daily wound care.

1/2 cup every hour....wow! I can't do that. I struggle to get my protein in....not because I don't like it but because my pouch is so small. I have turned to Profect and I sip on my shake throught the day. I put unflavored protein in my broth too....whew.
ONe thing I can feel some weight loss....no idea how much because I don't have a scale...will be really excited to see where I am after my appointment on the 14th.

Hi Jan,
Congrats on the weight loss. I will be 3 weeks out on Wednesday & have lost 21 pounds so far. I also get very tired in the afternoon and usually take a nap. The only problem with napping in the afternoon is that I can't fall asleep at night. I wish you well on your continued weight loss journey. God Bless.

Hi, great thread!
Date of Surgery- Aug. 29
Type- Lap RYN
Weight lost- 18 pounds before surgery, not sure how much since only 5 days out. Next Monday will be my follow up, looking forward to seeing what it will be. My scales right now say another -10.
Havent had any real problems, mild reaction to the morphine, but have been at home and up and about and drinking/eating full fluids. Trying as others to get protein in.

Hi, I am concerned too with not getting enough protein. My dietician didnt talk so much about drinking enough water but about trying to get 60 g of protein ina day. So I have a protein drink (1/2 in morning, 1/2 at night) and also have clear soups, puddings with milk, apple sauce (put skim milk powder in it to add protein), lots of juices and jello. She also said I should be eating about 1/2 cup EVERY hour and to make sure I do it. So I am always thinking of what I should have next. I dont think it will stretch the pouch (more than it is supposed to) but it is very important to get your fluids and nutrients at this time.

I just wanted to say happy labor day to all my LOSER buddies! Hope everyone has a happy and safe one! I have spent most of the morning praying for the family of Steve Irwin the crocodile hunter's family. He was killed this morning by a sting-ray.

My surgery went well, I never needed the pain pump, was up walking that afternoon, went home the naxt day, no pain meds since Ive been home. I tried for 4 years to get insurance approval, even took a part time job trying to get insurance to cover, finally self paid. Annette
