I was still a little fatigued at 2 weeks too, but once I forced myself to get up and stay out of the house (walking, shopping, etc) I started to feel better and had more energey. Don't forget to take you vitamins too...that helped big time for me!

Dawn~ You will be fine, and you are so right. There is always a reason why God lets things happen, even when they are disappointing to us. I always try to remember that "God see's the big picture", we only have limited vision to what is really going on. God changed your date for a very good reason, and you may never know why..... but you do trust Him, I can see that God bless you and continue to trust and know that God is in control and that He is good, all the time! Love, Michelle Brennan

Well, yesterday I had disappointing news that I had to be bumped to Wednesday, August 30...everything happens for a reason and I know that God is in control. Speedy recovery goes out to Trish..I did see her before her surgeryy, maybe she will still be there when I get there. At least I am still an August baby! I can't wait to be on the losing side. Hugs and blessings and thanks for all the support to all pre-op and post ops.

I had lap rny Aug. 22nd. in Salt Lake City, Dr. Sherman Smith who has done 8000 bariatric surgeries. So no complications. One extremely heavy girl who had it the sameday, I believe open, had her liver nicked and had some bleeding. She was still in the hospital when I left after 2 nights. I guess that's why some docs put you on a liquid diet prior. They sent me home with pain medication but after taking 1/2 tablet the first night home, I have not needed to take anymore. I literally have 0 pain. I had knee surgery in March and was on paid meds for 2 weeks so I'm quite surprised. I've gone down 2lbs. per day. I started at 220 and was 208 this morning. I'm getting in a mile on the treadmill in 3 or 4 increments, My doc wants us to work up to 50 continuous minutes within a month. I sleep on several bolsters and pillows and don't turn on my side yet because I get a twinge if I do. This doc doesn't allow protein shakes so I don't know how I'm going to get enough protein without breaking the rules. It sounds like most other places recommend it. Does anybody else have this restriction? Also has anybody tried protica protein which comes in a 2.9 oz liquid with 25 gms. protein? I'm thinking of ordering that. Thanks

Hi I'm 2weeks post-op tomorrow. I had a Lap RNY so my drain was taken out before I left the hospital - that incision isn't pretty. My other incisions are looking good. I'm having the same issue with energy - I get tired. I can finally sleep the night through and I can stay awake all day if I can take a nap in the early evening. I've been out line dancing twice since surgery and try to go walking every day. Last week I had trouble concentrating. The nurse said it was an anesthesia hang-ver and could last 6 weeks, but it's getting better. My program has moved me from clear liquids to full liquids to pureed. It was easier to get in all my fluids when I wasn't trying to eat too (I'm not to drink within 1/2 hour of food on either side). I'm taking daily multivitamins and weekly B12. I'm adding protein powder to my cream of wheat and anything else I can think of adding it to. I'm down 23 pounds from my weight in June. I'm going back to work next Tuesday. How is everyone else doing?

Topic: RE: August 31'st anyone?
Hello Dee~ Thanks for writing me back Yes, isn't God so good to us? He is amazing! I am just so thankful that this surgery is even an option for us. I have been wanting it for about 3 years and it's finally an option for me. I couldn't find a doctor who would refer me for it, because I am considered a light weight. That's the only time anyone called me a light weight, in the doctors office! lol.... Anyway, for years I would ask every doctor I went to, "what do you think of gastric bypass surgery"?, and they would all say "eat less and exercise more".... I was so sick of that! But in April, on my 41'st birthday, I went to my new primary care and figured I "throw the question" out to him and he said "I think it's a great option!!" I was so happy. And now the day is almost here...... amazing! I will say a prayer for you on Thursday, it always helps me when I pray for someone else, so I will be praying for "Dee" on Thursday, and God will take care of me just because that's what He does!! What kind of diet are you on now? I have been doing slim fast since Saturday, so today is my third full day. I did have a salad yesterday for lunch, that was great! My doctor doesn't require any kind of special diet, but I just decided for myself, from all the support group meetings I have been going to, that I think it was best for me to try to shrink my liver by doing this liquid diet. How are you feeling? Michelle from NJ

It has been two weeks since my surgery date. I have been doing well with the exception of lack of energery/need for naps. My pain has been under control usually taking, for pain when needed. According to my scales this morning I have lost 18.5 lbs. not to shabby. I have been taking walks, but am unable to do much at the gym due to lack of energy. My incision line looks very good, the drainage has diminshed to a dribble. My G-Tube will come out next week, which I am looking forward too. Need to increase my fluid intake.
