4 More days for me 8/30. I am on 4 day liquid diet and starving. I got pretty nervous last night when shopping for my liquid days. I am more nervous just making thru the next 4 days with not eating than I am the surgery. I should be cleaning house but decided my 17yr old son needs the experience. A special note: While on pain meds we are instructed not to operate heavy machinery now Ladies that means stove, refrigerator, washer/dryer & dishwasher. In my mind it does I mean they are heavy right?

Hi Amanda -- After many years of research on this surgery, the one thing which has taken me by surprise has been the severe Nausea -- something which was totally unexpected....I told the doctors I would have been up and doing the Irish jig if it wasn't for the nausea and that is the complete and honest truth! After 6pm last night I was unable to hold down anything that I remotely came near...even water. The doctors were concerned and wanted me to spend the day at home rehydrating, which of course I have been doing. Water, Water, Water, Broth and Tea and these seem to have stayed down so far! I had open Gallbladder and Appendix surgery many years ago, the pain and lack of mobility after that procedure was far greater than this, in my opinion! I have taken one pain med since I have been home, lost that quickly and have not resorted back to it and most likely won't.....the nausea has been far worse than the pain!!!! Wishing you much luck! Candy

Had my "panic" attack last friday at dr's office for pre-op appt. Iv'e been pretty good this week at work, just SOOOOOOOOOOO busy. But I feel that was a blessing. I have the same surgery date too! Monday can't come soon enough, I just have to get my house in order though. Been in denial about that. Kinda sorta want to get the more important things done first, and leave the smaller stuff for recovery. (to motivate me to get up and move). Best of luck to you and have a healthy recovery! Lisa

Good for you about not freaking out. Last Friday at my preop 8/18 I told my doctor that I was terrified, and didn't want to stay at the hospital overnight. (lapband), he said he would do it outpatient. he was so nice and calmed me down. I hear you about the house! I can't seem to get my act together. I just want the surgery to be over and come home and be "cozy". Best of luck to you in your recovery and new life! Lisa

Gwendolynn, I am still pre-op so I can't offer you any sage advice about your recovery issues, but I wanted to let you know I was thinking of you... Keep up the walking. Take the pain meds if you can tolerate them. If you can't take the pills, consider asking if there is a liquid form of something you could take. There has to be something that will help. Best wishes, Lea in WV

Hi all! I can't believe that I am so close to my surgery date and have not been nervous or anxious about the surgery... I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and my mood to change and it hasn't happened. Is that odd? I have stocked up on my food items, bought groceries for the family, stocked up on horse and dog food, etc... I'm going to do some house cleaning this weekend (UGH) and try and bring a teeny bit of order to this place before I am unable for a bit. I've done really well on my diet. I've dropped 24 pounds so far and my surgeon was pleased since the only requirement was that I did not gain anything between my consult and my surgery. I've been through all my pre-op testing. I have had a series of bloodwork done to determine my pre-op vitamin/mineral levels so that we've got something to compare to down the road. I feel like I am truly ready--all but packing my bag for the hospital that is! Maybe things will continue to go smoothly and my nerves never will hit in that anxious/am I crazy way... Who knows! Guess I'll have to wait and see! LOL Hugs to all of you who have had or are having surgery this month. I hope that everyone's surgery is uneventful and your recovery smooth. And, I pray that you are successful in your journey towards a new you! Lea in WV

Hi fellow August re-birthday folks! My surgery isn't till 8/29 at 9 am, but I'm praying for all of you who will go before (and after) me! Take care of yourself. Get plenty of rest. WALK! And, live life to its fullest! Hugs, Lea

Still have a considerable amount of pain. I'm moving around pretty good. I walk back and fourth down my block. Don't really want the pain meds. They sorta got stuck the 1st day home....... Soooo much pain, it's really hard to do anything, even focus on eating.
