Topic: Plastic Consultation...
Hi all...haven't posted in a while, but been lookin' in on y'all! Shel T CONGRATS!!!! I am excited for you! I LOVE being pregnant, but it was dangerous for me when I was so heavy! I pray you have a great experience!
I have a consultation with a plastic surgeon on Feb 9th about my breasts, my tummy and my thighs. I am looking at a breast reduction, a tummy something (I have soooo much excess skin they will have to take A LOT away before they can do a tummy tuck) and then I would like my thighs worked on. The nurse believes that my breasts and tummy will be partially paid for by insurance and that my thighs will be out of pocket...we will see. Does any one have a list of questions that they asked their plastic surgeon? Please share, if you do...or if you have any suggestions on what I should ask. A friend of mine who is a surgical nurse suggested that I ask how many RNY patients this surgeon has done, and to see before/after pics of them before deciding using him. I am also going to have my RNY surgeon refer me to one or two that he knows...so, I will have a few choices to pick from.
Anyway...just wanted to get y'all's opinion!
TIA!

I haven't been eating anything different really. maybe it is the flu.. I dont have a fever, well atleast i dont feel like I do. I had my appendix out in 96. So I don't know. The lady at my work has a stomach flu so maybe its that. i am gonna try just fluids today to see if that helps.

Heidi,
Could be a virus. There's been a LOT of stuff going on out there lately...
Have you been eating something different in the last week that could be causing lower intestinal gas? That's what it sounds like. Call your doctor if it keeps up for another day or so...Do you have a fever? If so, call right away...
Do you have your appendix? I know someone that just had her appendix burst and they didn't find it until after it had burst...she had RNY too. Better to have it checked now than be sorry.

1. What type surgery did you have, and why did you choose that kind?
I had open/RNY...my surgeon prefers to do it open...I never considered a lapband, I had way too much weight to lose and wanted something that gave me the best results.
2. What is the greatest change in your life since surgery?
Being back to a weight that is manageable and where I can move and feel good about myself and shop for regular sized clothes.
3. What was the hardest adjustment since surgery?
It too****il month 8 to "see" any weight loss...now it's carb control and snacking.
4. How has your family and friends adjusted to the change in you?
All are completely happy for me...hubby had surgery too...I get a bit jealous of him now that he's passed me out by getting to 199lbs before me, but he had a lot less to lose than I did. Those people that don't agree with it or are jealous and don't mention it can go you know where!
5. How much weight have you lost? More or Less than you expected by this point.
I have lost 130 pounds , my surgeon's goal. I'm very happy, but would like to lose 25 more...if I don't, I'm still happy.
6. Are you pleased with your surgery results? Would you do it again?
I'm very happy, and more so that I don't have a lot of hanging skin. I was very lucky. I would like a boob lift and a small implant, though and maybe a tiny tummy tuck, someday...The bat wings are bad, but, oh well, not bad for a 43 year old!

For about 5 days now my stomach has been bothering me. It doesn't hurt constantly. But if I eat something drink something it hurts. The pain is down low and feels sorta like a flu like hurting... almost gassy or Diarrhea type feeling... I thought it would go away soon but it hasn't...Can ANYONE give me an idea as to what is causing this???
Topic: RE: Okay , Lets do a weigh in !!
I weighed 144 this morning...I fluctuate between 142 and 145. 145 was my goal weight and I reached that on Thanksgiving morning...how appropriate. My surgeon's goal for me was 165. I would like to get down to 137, since that would be 'normal' BMI for my 5'2". I exercise every day, but maybe not as long each day as I used to. I've lost 140 lbs. Carbs are also my addiction...but at least eating some carbs now, I'm not so constipated all the time.

1. What type surgery did you have, and why did you choose that kind?
I had LAP/RNY, because my doctor told me the success rate is a bit higher than Lapband, and my insurance wouldnt cover it.
2. What is the greatest change in your life since surgery?
My whole life has changed, but the greatest change is in my health. No more congestive heart failure, edema in my legs and feet, no more depression, and Im on no medications whatsoever. Pretty good for a 60 year old!
3. What was the hardest adjustment since surgery?
The hardest adjustment is mentally seeing myself as thin.
