Hi Michelle -
My opinion is that you aren't getting enough vitamins and/or protein. Please check with your nutritionist and have them run blood work to check your levels. I've had no problems with energy at all since my surgery, but I take the Optisource vitamins (4/day) and get my 80 grams of protein a day. I hope this helps!

Topic: RE: How much weight have you lost?
Wow...this kind of helps put it all in perspective. I've slowed down so much that I was wondering if I was the only one. Glad to hear it's happening all over!
I'm down a total of 142 and need to lose another 34 to get to my goal.
Way to go, everyone!

Topic: Need some input.
I need some mental help. I had my first plastics consult yesterday for my breast lift. I was happy to hear from the Dr. that most of my breast is still tissue that I will not be needing any kind of implant and will only go down about a cup size. So just a lift is very possible. That was great news for me. He actually did a full body consult and informed me of different areas that he could do. I know my arms need work but after seeing the scars, I have decided that that will be the last thing I do. He suggested a complete lower body lift for my tummy instead of just a tuck, which is fine. But here is where he got my thinking; he said I have about 10 lbs of skin to remove in my lower body. I told him I wasn't at goal yet to be ready for that, he was surprised. He asked how much more I wanted to lose I told him 20 lbs more. He said, you don't have 20 more pounds of fat to lose. He said maybe 10 more but after that all I have left is skin and muscle. Now ever since day one of this process I have always wanted to get down to 150 - 155 but he is telling me that 165 should be just fine. My number always came about by the BMI index, given my height I went with the high side of healthy because I do have a big bone structure. But I know that the index doesn't take into account muscle mass. Only pounds on the scale regardless of where that weight is coming from. So I am having a hard time wrapping this information around my head.
I have 2 more consults scheduled so I will see what the others tell me. And I have my one year appointment as well, so hopefully my surgeon will be able to tell me more as well.
Did this happen to anyone else? Did anyone else re-evaluate their goal? Was it hard to accept the new number instead of the magic number you had in your head when you started your journey?
Thanks,
Melissa

As of yesterday I had lost 99.5 lbs. Still have 20 to go to what I think my goal is. I have only lost 2 pounds in the last 3 months. I think my body is done but I need to get my thyroid checked since I have been off my meds for 5 months (due to lack of insurance), that may be the problem I am having.
Topic: RE: Need some help!!!
I kinda know what you are feeling, although not to the extreme you are going through. For me, I know it has to be related to my thyroid. I have hypothyroid and have not been on my meds since May (due to lack of insurance) and I am feeling the effects of being off of them for that long, The major signs are tired and constant feeling cold. I finally got insuance again and am going to have bloodwork done to get back on track.
Have you had your thyroid checked? It might be the culprit.
Topic: Need some help!!!
Hi Everyone!
I am having a problem and I hope you can offer me some advice! I always get such good insight whenever I post a question and from reading others posts. So here goes......(and please forgive the "pity party")....
I am tired! I mean really tired --like in my muscles and bones tired. I have been feeling this way for about 6 months ( I am now a year out from my WLS), but lately it is really affecting my life. For example, I never feel rested and could fall asleep at the drop of a hat...and do! I have fallen asleep twice waiting at a red light. I don't have the energy to do simple things and I hate feeling that way. I have been so proud of my weight loss-- I was down 140 pounds, but this morning I was up 3 pounds. Now, normally I don't obsess over a few pounds as I know things fluctuate. But, I know this gain is because I have been grazing all day as a result of this tiredness and I can't go back to those old habits. I take my b-12 everyday and have the shot every 3 months from my Dr. office. I just really need any help you can offer.
Thanks so much!!
Michelle
