I do not know of any support groups for WLS in Lethbridge. I think Calgary may have one. Not sure though.

Oh Yeah! Finally an answer lol...
That sounds great I'll try them for sure. Do you have to buy a 6 pack? I hate that about Ensure. Especially seeing they market to seniors and not all seniors can afford $12 for a 6 pack!
Now if I can only figure out what to eat for Christmas Dinner lol!
My favourite are the Oh Yeah! ones...you can get them at GNC. They come in Strawberries and cream, banana, cookies and cream, chocolate, and vanilla. 32g of protein, 220 calories (I think). GNC also has their own brand called Total Lean, similar stats nutrition wise, a little less protein and fewer calories.
My nutritionist suggested Ensure High Protein, but there's no where near as much protein in them compared to Oh Yeah! or the Total Lean shakes. The Oh Yeah! shakes say right on them that they can be used as a meal replacement.

Does anyone know where in Alberta you can buy individual bottles of the meal replacement drinks you are supposed to use after surgery. I'd like to try them out before I buy a 6 pack and find out I can't stand them.

Hi All, I am new here from Ontario. Looking for any support groups in the Lethbridge area. In a stall for the last 10 months and wanting to get back on track.

Hi there
Speaking for myself (and I believe I was faster rather than slower), I began going to the WW clinic in September, 2012 after completing all the Weight Wise modules. . After meeting with my Case Worker I began to have regular appointments with her and the Dietician. Before being approved I also had appointments with the Psychologist and Dr. Mody (I hope I spelled her name correctly). At this point I had a chance to meet the surgeon's fellow who indicated I needed to have a barium X-ray and an endoscopy (due to GERD) before final approval--that added an additional month. I was fortunate, though, that I wasn't required to do a sleep study which many are asked to do.
To sum it up, I began the WW modules in May, 2012 with my first appointment at the WW clinic in September, 2012 with final approval (being put on the waiting list) as of April, 2013. I hope that is of some value to you. Definitely not a quick process but there is a lot of value in it. The modules were particularly informative and have helped me to significantly modify my eating habits. It takes a lot of patience but I feel it has all been worthwhile. I'm very grateful for the entire process but acknowledge eagerness to get on with things now.
Best of luck to you!
I have Dr. Birch as well.
1st one to get a call post the date and it will give us a good idea when our turn will come.
