Hi Sophie.
I had my surgery in Mexico so have no connection to the local 'organized' weight loss surgery program or patients. I assume there is one, but have not seen anything written about it here. My only source of support is from the general OH online community and the online MFP community. If you would like to get together for a coffee when you return, please PM me

I've decided I'd like to join a gym, and have narrowed it down to these two in Calgary. I'm still pre-op and I'm extremely self conscious given my current weight. If I chose GoodLife it would be a women's only club. For those of you that belong to either, can you give me an idea of the overall feel of the club? Do you find that the clientele is older or younger? If you're overweight, do you feel judged or were you pressured into anything? I'm not looking to join any classes, I just want to be able to go in and use the equipment and be left alone by the staff. I don't want to join somewhere and feel like there's a bunch of cliques all around, I'd rather not feel like I'm back in high school! I will do a trial before I commit, but would like to hear what some people have to say.
And, wherever I do join, if anyone here is a member and looking for a workout partner, I'd be game! I'm looking at the Spa Lady in Canyon Meadows or the GoodLife in Deerfoot Meadows.
Thank you!

Hi Sophie,
I'm fairly new around here so don't have an answer to your question but I'm sure somebody will. I just wanted to say welcome!
I was in the Peter Lougheed for 4 nights over August long weekend last year. Would have been released one day sooner but the residents decided to keep me. Good Luck!

I'd love to come but we are leaving for the coast on Tuesday. A quick question please I had my RNY 6 years ago. I moved here 2.5 years ago from Quebec. Do we have any support groups or social networking groups out here? So many social groups focus around food and especially alcohol which u probably know does more harm than good Any direction would be appreciated. Thank you
Sophie
