I think those of us who choose to go elsewhere for whatever reason need to stop being ashamed of both our WLS and our choice to pay for it ourselves and "skip the cue". It's the same journey and we can make it easier for each other when we support each other.
A little excited and a little scared. After an unsuccessful lapband ....here goes round 2! Approved for sleeve to be done in Calgary at the end of August.
The journey seems long because I have so much to lose but I am slowly making progress in the right direction.
I guess we are all on this same journey ....different paths.
I am so encouraged by the stories i read on here. You are all so brave and NEVER give up.
Have a wonderful day! :)
I didn't have any gastro testing done before my sleeve surgery and I actually didn't have to do a liquid diet either but anyway I didn't know until the day after surgery what size they used. For me a 32 bougie was basically 80% smaller than my actual stomach and it has worked well for me.

Thanks Kee! I'm guessing he'll have an idea after Friday then, once he sees my stomach from the inside. I'm just so anxious about this all. Thanks again.
Although I'm almost 3 years out I distinctly remember this being one of my question to Dr Menezes and Dr Birch and was told by both that they don't use the same bougie size on everyone and that it depends on what your actually stomach looks like on the inside. We all have different size and shape stomachs therefore different bougie sizes are used. Mine was a 32 as I was told after surgery and it is quite small but I have heard of people having anywhere between a 30 and a 50.
Hope that was helpful.

Hello again!
After worrying that I wouldn't get my gastro appointment for MONTHS, I got a call today saying I can get it done on Friday! With that said, by the end of July, after my psych eval, I can have my surgery scheduled anytime.
He asked me to consider the RNY, but said if I want the sleeve, that's okay too. I'm just wondering if anyone here has had their sleeve done by him and if so, do you know what size bougie he used? I found one post on this site from someone saying she was told he uses a 50 (!!!!!!) but I can't find anyone who has actually had their procedure done by him.
Thank you!
Did you try this product : Baja Bob's Margarita Pina Colada Mix ?
I miss my pina colada and it's the only one that I can find...if you have any suggestion for me I'm listening (more reading but....)
tks
Instead of beating yourself up over 10#, maybe try relaxing into weighing 150, and keeping that 150# Kee healthy. Losing every scrap of excess weight sounds good, but you don't have to have a perfect BMI to be healthy, happy and active.

Hi Kee - You are not alone in this rut. I am with you. I don't really have any advice for you or else I would be taking it myself. I think we both know what we have to do, it's just hard. From what I hear from others, its to get back to basics. Eat at least 70 grams of protein first, then veggies and fruit. No drinking during or for 1/2 hr afterwards. Stick to 3 small meals and 2-3 small snacks. This is where I really struggle. I find I am beginning to graze too much and on the wrong things. A handful of chips here, a cookie there etc... I need to stop doing this. We go camping a lot and I am really bad with grazing while camping. Plus all the camping type foods...ugh...its a struggle. The other thing is to exercise. Another area I need to work on. I don't exercise much, only walking. What I hear is work off the extra calories you put in. I am thinking at three years out 1200 calories is pretty good. I am sure I get more than that. I am not losing or gaining either. I have about 10 lbs I'd like to lose as well. I want to get to 140 lbs. I am going in for my panni removal this Thursday. Even though I am expecting not to lose any weight per say, it would be nice. I am pretty nervous. You will get it together Kee. We both have to because you are right, we have worked too hard to get to this point and I know I never want to go back to what I was. Why then do we fall into bad habits, knowing we don't ever want to go back? I ask myself this all the time...
Anyways, be strong. You can do this! Good luck!
