Topic: RE: Surgery date is in February!! OMG!! What now?

Hey Okgal50,

I would totally mention the hernia and the desire for a sleeve.  Dr. Debru is an upper GI doctor that graduated to weight loss surgeries.  He could possibly do that for you. I typed out all my issues and put them in a book for him to read.  I usually forget things when I'm under pressure and I knew that would happen when I seen him.  I put things in like the pain in my hip, pain in my knees and ankles, the lack of confidence and how I am failing my children as a mother.  I also put in the personal stuff like how I was insecure having sex with my partner, how I could barley wipe my self after going to the bathroom,,, I put in everything I could think.

After he read the bullet form letter that I had written he said he was impressed that I had gone through this much effort and even said that he wished everyone would do this for him so he didn't have to dig for information.

I hope this helps.  Don't be afraid to ask for the sleeve if you want it!!  It's been amazing :)

Topic: Signing my consent forms - Did you receive surgery date at that time?

Hello, I am with the Calgary clinic and I was curious if people received their surgery date the day they signed their consent forms or was it after.  If after, how long?  Just curious about my timeline.  It feels like forever already and I just eager.

Any input would help.

Not at all the more the merrier!   Sounds like red deer is the place to be.  My doctor refused to refer me to Calgary saying he doesn't like their system and hasn't had any patients get in with them.  But he's had great success with red deer.

Hope you don't mind me hopping into your conversation. I spent well  over a year in the Calgary program before transferring to Red Deer. It was one year from my first appointment in Red deer to receiving my May 28th surgery date. Got the call yesterday and am walking around in a daze feeling totally unprepared. What  youtube videos are you watching? Only 55 days till it happens so I best get prepared. lol

Now that's a feel good story!  Slow and steady wins the race!  Onederland is a great place to be. And getting healthier and happier!

I see Dr. Debru on May 12th but have no idea what to expect. I need an old VBG revised or converted and an umbilical hernia fixed (maybe I mentioned that). I would love a sleeve but don't know if it's possible. Would love a second chance at it now that I'm older, wiser and my last of four is graduating this June. More time to look after me now than 12 years ago.

Take care and keep us updated!  I love hearing your progress!

No date yet. I've got an appointment on the 8th with a nurse and my scope on the 24th so I'm hoping to get a date soon.  I really don't mind waiting I've been doing really well with my pre-op diet (down 50lbs since last summer) it's starting to slow and I'm getting the the limit I can never seem to get below so I'll be happy to get in there and get it done

Hey Tara,

I didn't mention but thought that I would... They provide inflatable compression stalkings.  They are so cool.  They inflate and deflate and inflate and.... As well the bed is amazing!!  It is inflates and deflates.  When you move your body even the slightest it adjusts the air in the bed so that you don't get bed sores.  It was wonderful.

Carrie :)
