Carb intake! Need help.
When I've seen the NUT, we really talk alot about protein because that's where my deficiencies were (I'm alot better in getting my 80g in)...anyway, we talked very little about how many grams of carbs to focus on.
In my journal,I do log my carbs...but not sure what number I should aim for an/or stay below.
I read an article that the carbs are doubled what the protein intake is for the day...I am not sure......soooooo...Anyone know what the rule of thumb is here?
Harriett you are new to the boards and do not know a lot of my story. I am a 6 year post op and in the later part of last year managed to gain 25 pounds rather rapidly. I went on a diet...first the 5 day pouch test and detoxed off bad carbs and then went on to not only lose the 25 and since then have lost 56 pounds in total and how I did was to restrict my carbs to 40-50 per day. I usually stay within the 40 range. If you were to double the carb intake like you are thinking, I do believe you would stall in your weight loss making you go nuts as to what you were doing wrong and why you were not losing weight.
As much as it is a pain in the tutu to weigh and measure, I resorted to it because I was not judging properly my amounts either. Honestly, I do not mind because I want to continue to lose a bit more (10 pds max) and finally get it through my head that I am not normal about food and have to live this way the rest of my life in order to maintain my weight.
So 40 to max of 50 a day girl and keep up all the hard work!!! Also have a rockin good time celebrating your daughters birthday...a milestone for you MOM!

You can go to another "specialist" who will tell you something different. Post-op wise, you should listen to what your body tells you, since not everyone can adhere to the same principles because we are human and individuals. Go with what your "gut" tells you.
