Thanks for the advice. Why is attendence down this time of year; because of the food-centric holidays?
I might take up your suggestion, or I might continue - I'm pretty stuborn ;)
I think this is a very hard time to start a new support group. Attendence in long running support groups are down this time of year. Heck, my program cancels the Dec. one.
My suggestion is to pick a date in January and then spend the next two months talking it up in every place that WLS patients from Sac would be (so not just OH and not just the CA board). That will be plenty of time for people to find out about the new group and put it on their calendar.

Still seeing if people are interested in a Sac-area WLS support group. I had a meeting yesterday, but no one showed up. I'm giving this another try - let's see if people are still interested in meeting? I thought we could focus on holiday eating, especially with all the family expectations. I've collected some tips on how WLS people can successfully survive these encounters (some of which I posted in the forum on Meetup.com). Afterwards, I'd like to close the meetings with getting some ideas from you all on time, locations, and especially future topics of interest. For this meetup, I've selected a location in East Sac.
The meetup group is here.
The direct link to this new meetup Tuesday evening is here.
Hope some of you will make it!!
Thanks for stepping up to save the group! I am a member, a new one, and went to one event over the summer. I was not available yesterday, but I hope you had a good turn out and I'm interested in future events as well. I'm in Roseville.

We'll look forward tro seeing you in Feb or March!!! Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Hugs,

As most of you will see in my postings, my brother John was a VERY active member of Obesity Help. They even did a center fold on John in an Obesity Help Magazine shortly after his passing (this is sort of ironic as John would have LOVED being a centerfold!!)
I found this picture trail made by a good friend of John's, Carolyn.

I want to share it with everyone....as I prepare for my own surgery I remember John's Journey-his determination, his ambition to use this tool as best as he could. I use his profile as my guide:

I miss you Johnny-but I know you are there-walking this walk with me, guiding me as you promised in your last post to us all:
"For my brothers and sisters still struggling, keep the faith. This disease does not have to be fatal. I am looking over you all from my place in Heaven and if God allows me to do so, I will lend you the strength you need to persevere."
Love,
Your Big Sister...Terri.
I am trying to get to the one in decemeber so i will see how that works out.
Again Good Luck and let me know how your appoint goes.
PEggy
Thanks for doing this for all of us!
