Topic: RE: BCBS in CO
Hello, I had gastric bypass and have BCBS. You don't have to have 6 months worth of tracked weight loss attempts. Just a record of attempts. I went through Dr. Michael Snyder in Denver. It was a breeze to get approved. They do require, a Pych eval, Nutrition eval, letter from the surgeon and the weight loss attempts. I'm sure she has tried everything like us all. Have her write those attempts down with approximate year and costs. Hope this helps.

Topic: Anyone from Denver/Aurora getting ready 4 Surgery
I have my first appointment scheduled with Dr. Snyder for 9/23/08. I have my pulmonary done and I have my physc on 9/18/08. I have been looking into this surgery for over a year now and have decided to move forward. I just wanted to see if anyone else local is getting close so maybe we could support each other through it.
I have a great family who is 100% supportive, but I am looking for someone to talk to that understands what I am going through...

I used Dr Terrence Murphy . His office is by Swedish Hospital. I've had him do my arms, tummy, thighs, neck/face, and boob lift.

You will probably have a hard time finding very many DS'ers in the entire state. There are no DS surgeons in the state.
I do have a friend in Castle Rock who had the DS in CA about 6 years ago. If you want to PM me your email addy when you get here, then I'll forward it on to her.

This is a tag line above a photo of a larger girl in her underwear. This is a real ad! I am so disgusted! read more at my blog and see the actual ad. We need to stop buying from companies that use these types of demeaning ads.

Hi Becky,
I had lap band surgery 2 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. The staff is amazing. Becky will be there the day of surgery to make sure every thing goes smoothly and that you are comfortable. I can't say enough good things about the PAs , I've worked with Steve and he's been fabulous!
Good luck!

Topic: RE: HELP! Insurance (United Health Care) Denied Surgery
I had the same problem. About 5 years ago, the company I work for decided to add WLS as an exclusion to their benefits. i was so frusturated as I got caught in the yearly benefits switch. I was covered when I started the process and then when I was able to get the surgery (after all the classes and appointments etc) I was no longer approved. I fought it for aboout 2 years and was denied each time -- even though it was medically necessary. It's very frusturating. If I was too thin, I would have no problem getting coverage for treatment through my employeer.
Anyway, good luck. Keep appealing it if it's medically necessary. Or, payfor it out of packet. They have TONS'O surgery financing companies out there.
Best,
Kristin

He is my surgeon, but I haven't had surgery yet. I spoke with another bandster on this site *****commended him. Then, my boss in Pueblo has sent patients to him and he came highly recommended. Do you have a date yet?
