Topic: RE: Support Group in/around Thornton/Westminster/Broomfield?
I found a group that meets at about 88th and Pierce in Westminster.  I wasn't able to attend on the 12th, but am on the reminder list and hope to attend next time.  I really need the support.  I'm proud of what I've accomplished in the last 9 months, down 93 pounds but think I should be down more.  I know that I am not eating properly, but need more guidance in that area as well.  I try to eat mostly protein but get so hungry for crunch and carbs that I attack them.  Any guidance, support, help that anyone can give is greatly appreciated. Cindy

My son just flew out to San Diego yesterday.  He is there for training and then will be stationed in GA.  He was in FL, I think the new base is less than 30 miles from the old one.  I kept telling him he could have gotten a little closer to home!  But he bought a house down there now so I guess he is there to stay.  He was just here for a month but who knows when he will be back.  I know what you mean about missing them.  It doesn't seem to get any easier.

Thanks,  I love keeping up with the teenager!   My oldest son is in the Navy also,  right now he is in San Diego getting ready to head out on a two month deployment.  I miss him like crazy when he is gone,  he is such a sweet kid. Have a great week! Holly

I have BCBS HMO (Lumenos) - I don't think that is exactly the same as yours. But, the process for me has been - a referral from my PCP, an educational meeting about WLS, meeting with the surgeon, meeting with Nutritionist, meeting with the Psych, and a letter from my PCP saying I would benefit from the surgery, and that I have attempted weight loss before (I tracked about 10 years worth with approx weights and dates). I have 2 co-morbidities as well, so we documented that too. I started the process in late February 08, (I took it slow) and should have my approval on Monday (hopefully). I have not been required to be on a 6 month diet - but I am also a lightweight (less than 125 lbs to lose). Good luck on your journey!

Way to go, Holly!!  You have done a great job!  Isn't fun to be able to do more with your kids and actually be able to keep up with them? I love your sailor bear!  My son is in the Navy and my Mom always used to call him her little bear.  I don't think he is too thrilled that the nickname stuck this long.

Hi everyone! I don't post much but am on here everyday.  I figured it was about time to share updated pictures for all the newbies out there.  I know it helped me to see others progress as I was starting the proces.  I started as a "lightweight" and have lost 100 pounds to date, I have also lost over 67 inches (width not height!).  Jut a few weeks ago, we went on a school trip with my son and I spent 5 days scuba diving, I was one of only two people who managed all 15 dives!  I also went zip lining and rappeling which was a first for me.  It is amazing how much this surgery has given me,  not just less pounds, but more courage, more interest to try new things, and more self confidence.   Please, if you are just starting or a newbie, remember this will all be worth it! Holly

Ok so I am NOT banded yet I am a veteran of this research. ALMOST did self-pay, almost got approved thru Kaiser and yadda yadda yadda...I could write a book on this whole process, as I am sure many of you could as well. :) So here is my new question... Does anyone have Blue Advatange HMO of Colorado? What's their process? Is there a 6 mo diet?
