Love Dr. Fisher - and have met Dr. Fedorak from this group. All surgoens are excellent and sometimes the drive just might be worth it.

Topic: RNY surgeons
 Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here could give me some info on surgeons in Colorado for the RNY. I'm finding it difficult to choose one!! I know my insurance requires them to be a center of excellence. I don't live real close to any of them, so i'm trying to research and get other peoples input as to who they used and the experience they have had so far with that surgeon. Thanks so much for any input!!

I think some of them give you a card allowing you to order of the kids' menus of restaurants and if you're given any problems, you show the card to the manager of the restuarant, which identifies you as a WLS patient and there *shouldn't* be any problems....

If you make it before hand, freeze it in an ice cube tray. They are 1oz in each slot, after frozen put it in a freezer zip bag for later. That worked rather well when I did home made refried beans. But you might not want to save an entire ice cube tray of just one thing. 1 or 2 cubes is an entire meal, and I got tired of eating the same thing too often

In the springs the sugrical group actually has a card stating this person has had a surgical procedure requiring them to eat smaller portions. I can't remember the exact wording unless I pull it out of my wallet.

One thing to know that most buffet places are WLS friendly because you can get their to go boxes. Pick out your food, and weigh and pay. Then you sit down with your group and eat your meal. So instead of paying $6 or more for your meal, I can get out with $2 to $3.

Try these sites for your beginning foods- I was websearching for them even though I haven't head my GB yet. I am the type that likes to be prepared ahead of time. Some of the recipes looked pretty good and I think I might do some taste testing before my surgery date.

I am on my own road to weight loss, but my Aunt started it our family.  We found out that by simply asking your Bariatric physician for his business card and writing on the back your name and date of surgery, many restaurants will accommodate your small portions w/o charging you for your portion of the meal.  I live in Colorado Springs and going into my GB in October, I am already aware of at least 6 restaurants that do this.  Hey- it's always worth asking about and the worst they can say is No.
